We have a one off opportunity to swap the Dunlop Grandtrec AT22 tyres which come as standard on brand new 2006 LC 100 TD with any AT tyre we like at no extra cost.
We will be towing a 2600kg off road full van across roads like the Gibb River Rd & Chambers Pillar Rd. We had lots of trouble with Coopers with our previous rig and won't consider wasting money on those.
Has any one any experience of BGF or Bridgestone ATs or any other brand. How would you compare them to the Dunlop AT22s?
Many thanks for your help

Our 100 series had a couple of grandtreks on it when we bought it and they were awful.. We now have Mickey Thompson ATZ's on it and they have been awesome. Great grip on and offroad, and great in the wet. They changed the handle and feel of the 100 series by leaps and bounds as compared to how unsteady it felt on the grandtreks. I'd highly recommend the Mickey Thompson ATZ's to anyone.

Thank you to both. We felt a bit uneasy about the Dunlops.
I also have Mickey Thomson ATZ's on my 100 and they are fantastic, can't complain about them at all. I have the 285/75/16 on mine but next time i might go the 305/70/16 they seem to fill the gaurds a bit better. I tried all of the Coopers and they were crap a waste of money

We just checked the Micky Thompsons. They don't seem to do a 275/65R17. Are the tyres on your Lancruiser different?

Ours are 305/70/16's, which translates roughly to a 33".
Mine r the older rims 16 inch, you might not get much of a choice of tyre with 17inch rims

I'd get the Mickey Thompsons, either the FCII or the MTZ.

You could fit the 265/70r17 or the 285/70r17 in the mickey thompson ATZ's, the latter are little bit taller but the 100 will handle it

265/70R17 is the direct replacement size. Although 285s are the logical, desirable size to use, check with your local registration authority to ensure roadworthiness.
On my 100 series I run the cooper st in the 285/75/16 size. Never had a problem with them and they are good on and off road

Or check the tyre placard on the car
