I'm after specs on ratios, info on weaknesses, and just general details for a MQ Patrol.

I'm not that interested in the motor side of things, more the driveline (gearbox,tcase, diffs.)

Forgot to mension, I want details for a 4sp Petrol model.

Just after things like;
diff ratios,
low range ratio,
1st gear ratio,
weak points,
etc.

The only weaknesses I've seen on my mates is the body rust.
Everything else is tough as, he absolutely punishes it as its his bush basher/shooting rig.
Might catch up with him this w/e.

I'm getting one without a body and I don't plan on using the chassis either. I'm planning on building a buggy out of it.
They have C200 front and rear diffs, this seems a bit small. But I guess I won't have much weight. I also want to weld the rear and if it has a rear LSD I want to put that inthe front.

You'll most likely find it has a C200 Front and a H233B Rear. The C200 rear was more of a Euro thing.

Being a Petrol 4 speed (assuming L28) it will have 4.625:1 Diff Ratios

Yeah, thanks for another confirmation on the ratios.. From what I read the MQ had C200's and the MK have C233 and C200.. But you say different. I'll have to wait and see until after I pick it up..

I'll have to agree with trojan. Pretty sure you'll find a H233 under the rear. My 81 mq has a open H233 and my 87 MK has a LSD H233

Ok.. I'm thinking just welded rear and open front diff to start with. Gotta keep it cheap.
