Is your 720 petrol or diesel? I sorta recall the diesels have a vacuum pump on the back of them, making it a little difficult to fit anything from a passenger car, like a commodore!
But even if it does have the vac pump on the back, the larger output Patrol units work well, although I think you might be well advised to change the pulley to the same size as the original one. That is necessary 'cos the 4 cyl 720 diesel runs slower than the 6 cyl Patrol diesel, and if you leave the larger dia Patrol pulley on the front of the alternator, it won't spin fast enough to do all the right stuff at anything less than about 8,000 rpm, and we ALL know how often a 720 does that!! Putting the smaller dia pulley on makes it spin faster with the slower engine revs, and it helps it make 12+ volts from just above idle!
Sorry I can't help more, but it's not a common thing to change, on the diesels anyhow, and for the obvious reasons! That vac pump is a pain to many people!!
