Just wondering whats the best oil for an lt95 ???
The specs say Motor oil but thats 26 years old now.
Any ideas?

i thought you could use gear oil Rocky???? It wouls have to be pretty thick motor oil.

No the specs say 20w-50, for the gearbox and Transfere case. I might chuck some Morelys Heavy duty oil stabilizer in there too.

i was told by the landy man in SA to only use motor oil.

I was told the same, I think gear oil can damage the brass shims.

This is correct. A good quality engine oil does the job, found Penrite HPR30 worked well in a LT95 4 sped years ago when I had my old 76 Rangie:thumb:
Also it is quite common for the oil in the gearbox to pump itself into the transger so you could have stuff all in the gearbox and your transfer could be chockers full of oil :eek: :eek:

Dont use anything else than engine oil.........people just dont get it.
The gearbox was designed for engine oil.
Over a period of time a gear oil will stuff it.
Thickening the oil with aditives is not recommended

Change the Oil today used Penrite HPR30 in it and already can notice a difference when changing gears, Not so Stiff.:truck:
