Im intersested in the new Triton, but a mate of mine who bought one about 2 months ago said it has developed a squeak in the shocks, which the dealer reckons they can't do anything about. Has any one who has the new model had a similar problem.

most have had the same issue.
30 second fix. It's just the rear spring bracket/ hanger being slightly too tight. A couple of taps with a hammer to move it 1mm does the trick.
He needs a new dealer. Mine new all about it, showed me the issue, let me watch him tap the hanger out the slightest bit. Never made a noise since.
Non issue.

If the shocks are squeaking, the dealer should replace them - simple!

not the shocks, its the hanger.. no issue.. i lubed mine up a couple of times.. my mitsi claimed it was painted springs causing it.. couple of love taps sorted it

could this be the same as the MK Triton when i go through tracks offroad its like it is squeaky - after a big session offroad the noise goes away but then comes back after a while
do you tap the spring hangers sideways??

Love taps are the way to go
Anyone having problem's with there Bluetooth
Agree with that one - had a similar problem after fitting new springs in the lux. Tried grease - but it scrubs off to bloody quick - so a little hammer finesse is the way to go. Have a look at your spring hanger (the bracket that holds the spring pack together so the leave don't splay out in all directions) and see if it has the telltale shiny steel rub marks !!!!
Some brands of spring have plastic rub strips to silence the sqeak, for a little while anyway.
The other thing that "can" occasionally squeak is dry rubbers on the shock absorber mounts - a quick squirt of Lanox or similar lube (one that won't effect the rubber) sorts that out real quick....
Good Luck - let us know how you go..........

squeak came back today while 4wding on a left hand cambered road.. few more love taps and kept it at bay.. you can see the point on the hanger where they rub on the top leaf.. also on flat it still is gone

would anyone be willing to take a pic of where it has to have the gentle "love tap"
mines just developing a small squeak.

if your getting the dobinson kit, the rear springs are completely replaced and this issue will dissapear, so dont waste your time.. but for others out there
this photo is the front of the rear tyre.. i have 33s so its a lil harder to see than if you had a stock truck.. when i had stock tyres i didnt need to remove the tyres to do this

now in this photo close up.. the red circle shows the paint wearing off where the hanger is rubbing (the top leaf moves fowards and backwards through that hanger during suspension travel. that rubbing causes the squeak.. the sides shouldnt be touching the spring.. or the spring shoudlnt have paint
http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j159/delcarlo/triton/rear%20hangers/fix.jpg
anyway.. give the spring pack a few good whacks with a mallet where i circled in blue.. this relieves the tension in that hanger and the squeak goes away forever

on a side note.. i appear to be missing the rear hanger bolt, passenger side only, which has nothoing to do with the above procedure by the way.. rear doesnt squeak so i never touched it

Cheers Tritor
Once again great post. its a good thing to have a forum on the new tritons, as i think there are only a handful out there modding theirs.

Right-on TBT.
It's a great resource, made greater the more people take the time to contribute. (even when there's nothing in it for them) as in the above post..
Ordered my canopy today. early next month for fitment.
Hopefully I'll have some suspension in by then.

Have had this squeak in my Triton after I had it for a month, no idea what it was. Will give this a go in the morning. You blokes are legends!
Simple things that the manufacture could & should bloody well address BEFORE they sell the vehicle - and its not restricted to the Tritons (mine were in aftermarket Tojo springs)
If your having trouble whacking the springs into alignment (they can be stiff buggers, especially whenunder load, all bolted and clamped together) its sometimes easier to bend/whack the acutal hanger away from the spring - even use the jimmy bar to pull it away a bit.
Remember the hangers are there to stop your leaf springs splaying out in all directions - so don't get carried away and think about removing 'em !!!!
