Anyone know what the factory rear ride height specification is for an 05 GXL TD Cruiser wagon - bottom of rim to wheel arch, or centre of hub to wheel arch

Unfortunately no, I would go to a car lot and measure if I needed it. The springs on my 2003 TD were way to soft and the rear end was always hitting the bump stops so I put new rear springs in, now it is 38cm from edge of rim to wheel arch (16 inch rim, deduct 12.5mm if you have 17 inch rims)

I assume you put HD springs in - standard ride height? Or did you go for a bit of lift?

I put in OME 864 which the paper work says 10mm lift (but these are the 400kg extra springs), but I have removed my rear seats and added draws @ 85 kg, plus half height cargo barrier, plus lots of junk in the drawers. I also have hayman reece tow bar plus opposite lock twin wheel carrier rear bar (without tyre carriers fitted, yet to be fitted) and intend putting the 122 litre fuel/55litre water tank underneath. I hummed and hahhed about the 200 kg plus springs but even now without the extra tank I am glad I picked the +400 springs. I have 3 kids and by the time you throw the fridge in and all the junk, you need the extra carrying capacity. I didn't fit any spacers for extra lift, will see how we go.

I thought 864's are 50mm lift with 400kg of additional rear load.

I thought 864's are 50mm lift with 400kg of additional rear load.

For the IFS TURBO DIESEL models, their manual specifically states lift is 10mm for the 860, 863 and 864 and also allows the addition of up to 15 mm per coil of trim packers to the top of the coil.
Perhaps you are thinking of the 864 fitted to the 80 series? I seem to recall they also fit them, but aren't sure?
The 865 and 866 give 40mm lift to the IFS diesel and petrol models from the specs that I have.

Hi guy's

On my 100Series TD i have [at the back] roofrack ,draws ,cargo barrier ,Engel ,twin tyre carrier ,axe-shovel & high lift jack holders & the fuel/water tank combo - so that's a lot of weight !

I have the 600kg Old Man Emu springs on with no coil spaces & bottom of rim to wheel arch is 810mm ,i don't have a problem with this set up when fully loaded or offroad .
ARB put the 600kg springs in & i think from memory they are not listed in the ARB catolgue for the TD/IFS model as that book only has the 400kg ones listed ? but the 600kg ones fit no prob's . I seen the 400kg & 600kg side by side before they went in & there was no difference in height when side by side only thicker !

March 07 issue of 4WD Monthly with the 2 100Series tested - one standard one kitted out - the standard one from bottom of rim to wheel arch was 770mm & the kitted one was 830mm [that one was heavy duty springs + airbags]

Hope that helps Tomax

Hey Paul,

What is the part spring number for those, I will keep it in the back of the mind so when I get more weight I can decide to add airbags or heavier springs

Hi 100 TD

Don't remember the part spring number , but the ARB store that put them on for me had only put them onto the Live-Axel ones before ,so mine was the first for them with IFS .
The spring is listed in their workshop order catolgue/fitting guide .

cheers Paul100
