Hi all
I'm just starting out looking at swags because they are better to sleep in than the back of the GQ.
What are the ones that people recomend?
there are some cheaper ones on ebay like oz trail, kakadu, bushman, reekker, burk and wills etc.....
are any of these any good??
any advice appreciated:)

my computer did a hissy fit on me and wouldnt return any good search results plus its way over due for a reformat:computer:
I managed to find another one going but was more about water proofing them:drink:
better off to make your own , go to a canvas / upholster/caravan awning place etc and tell them what size and canvas weight tarp you want made up and where you want the pockets/ zips/ studs or no pockets,zips/ studs at all . I prefer 2 pockets about 600 mm in from each end so there is plenty of overhang when you get in it. Studs down the flaps to hold it together if you want to stick a rope thu and make a triangle tent. dont put them right on the edge or water will run in ,again leave some overhang. stick a mozzie net in one pocket for a pillow and your away with a better and cheaper deal than most of the miserable crap they call swags in shops.

Like this idea. already have a good materess, the one i use in the back of the 4by
I'll have to take a tape measure to Loveday and take some notes on other swags so i dont make it too small for a big bloke like me to fit in

I purchased this one recently and have used it twice. First outing was Rover Park for BotS and second was Rocky for the Xtreme Winch Challenge where it rained fairly heavily on the Sunday night. I was dry and warm with just a single sleeping bag. There is a large flap over the head end where you can store your bag etc. out of the weather aswell. I bought this one because it was simple to use. Just role it out and you're done. You can rope it up if you want. I am very happy with it so far and recommend it.

My old man and one of the other guys here have bought OZ Trail in the past. They're not too bad. Wayne has had a few problems with zips busting and Sean had issues with poles.
I've got another swag aswell that I'll post up when I remember the maker of it. My previous employer had a few work swags that were different styles and I'll run through in a comparo.
Cheers,
Ryano

I forgot to add, I have been out in sub zero conditions with that swag. All be it in a tracksuite, inside a thermal liner, inside a sleeping bag, inside another sleeping bag....but I was very very warm. I hate being cold.
That one ryano posted looks the goods too. I wouldn't mind updating myne to that one.

G'day Anjitago, this is my double swag, not really a double but very comfy for 1. It can fully unzip to catch any whiff of breeze and be zipped right up for wet/bad weather which it has seen plenty of. The mesh is 'no see-um' and will keep the tiniest of tiniest bugs out, nothing gets in! It is expensive at around $500 but at the time it was either a roof top or this baby......so even at 500 I saved money in my situation at the time. It really has been woth the money and has travelled everywhere with me....cheers....and to set it up takes all of 1 minute, literally, you could have it up in less time than that if ya wanted, very quick and easy
