Just reading another thread on fridges got me thinking. I want to upgrade my 40L engle to a 60L.
Does anybody use the 60L, can a 1.25 bottle stand up right in it???
I like the 40L, but due to its hight (back of lifted ute on rollerdrawers) it is a bit high to get into, the 60L is slightly lower but bigger in length and width. My main concern is can a bottle of coke/water/whatever sit up right in a 60L.

HI,
I have just brought a 57L engle Fridge/Freezer Combo. This is a 60L with a partition in it which gives you a 32L Fridge Compartment and a 25L Freezer Compartment and yes it will take a 1.25 L Bottle standing up but not a 2L bottle.
Hope this Helps. :D

So you can run a freezer and a fridge in one??
Will it freeze ice cream and keep the beer cold without freezing?

Yes you can run a freezer and Fridge in one. The reason I went this way is I thought it would be better for a long trip. I have only used it once so far on a short trip so I didn't need the Freezer, on this trip I used the Temp setting for a Fridge (keeping the Freezer compartment lid off) the freezer part kept all cold and the Fridge part everything cool which was still cold enough for fruit and sandwich's etc. I haven't used it as a freezer yet but they say it will keep ice cream and meat etc frozen. Only down side is it uses a bit more power when using the freezer than a normal one. But all in alll I think it is a far better option.

We have also got one of the 60 litre fridge/freezer ones. If you want to run the whole thing as a fridge, just leave the lid off the freezer and keep the temp dial low. If you want a big freezer, leave the lid off the freezer and crank the temp dial up. Works well both ways.

Even though 1.25l cokes do fit, I find it best to use cans. the bottles don't stack very well and waste a lot of space. the cans fit closely next to eachother and don't waste room by having weird size gaps that you can't fit anything in.
I replace each can as I use one, so there is always a few coldies in the fridge. the cans also take up less room when they are finished as you just squash them flat after quenching your thirst! :D

I have kept Fruit, Ham, Cheese, Butter and Bread in that side with no problems at all.

That's fine until the rough tracks and the bumping & shaking as you climb the roughly ten million spinifex humps between each dune (and there's only 1,100 more dunes to cover!) makes the cans move against each other enough to wear pin-prick holes in the sides. For some reason it seems to take almost exactly the same amount of time for EVERY can in the fridge to wear thru; so that when you hear the first one do it's 'unexplained empty' trick, by the time you get the vehicle stopped and the doors open and the fridge up etc, there are about 20 cans that have emptied themselves into the fridge!! Just a little messy to clean up!!

When it's an 8 week remote trip, you gotta make 'em last, or you've gotta carry a whole heap!! In either case, you can't drink them all the first night, else you'll have nothing for the next 7 weeks 6 days and during that time lots will wear thru; unless of course you put them all in Stubby holders, but that means a WHOLE LOT of stubby holders!! Even using the 1 metre long jobbies you end up needing a heap!!
And pubs get upset when you visit, borrow a stubby holder or two, and leave with every single stubby holder they have in the place!! They lose all sense of humour when you tell 'em why you need them!!
I usually end up layering newspaper between them, ie each can is wrapped individually! That works, just takes up a fair bit of room, but the paper and cardboard makes for a good fire, eventually!!
