We have had our camp flag flogged about 3 times. Other than that we have been lucky. I guess with noone around it would be easy if the camp is left unattended.

i had surfboards & wetsuits taken from my tent in a caravan park of all places, while we where at the pub. some crunts had be watching us unload the boads after we drove thru the caravan park to the campsite.

anyway long story short, the 4wd ute they loaded all the boards into had sign writing on it, we got the details from a witness & reported it to the country cops, they checked their camp & no boards. obviously they where stashed somewhere in the dunes.

claimed insurance & got all new gear, choice. over 12months later i walked into a surf shop & looking at 2nd hand boards theres my old 6'6" nev sitting there on consignment under the same name as the 4wd ute was registered to. lol.

so another trip to my local cop shop saw a different result. stupid farker did the crime in his own work ute, went to court & got charged with numerous offences.

the best bit was trying to find the local country cop, on a sunday morning. found him in the last place we looked, it should have been the first place we looked, he was at the pub all the time.

heard alot of stories of people going to bed only to wake in the morning and stuff gone from camp site. we leave our valuables on the floor of our camper trailer overnight.......next to 55kg of rotty. we dont seem to have a problem so far! also if too wobbly when going to bed, sometimes forget and leave stuff out front overnight, people see the dog during the day and give us a wide berth! dog is good natured.......unless he thinks you are taking something of his, and our stuff also seems to be his. i always tell the wife, "if they can get past the dog, then they deserve whatever they can get, they can keep whatever they want, i will even help them load it into their car" LOL.

yeah i think in general campers in a CAMPsite won't steal your stuff. If you're far away enough from civilisation most people are in the same boat as you. The have their stuff out in the open too. We've never had anything taken. But then with the usual precautions most people are alright. I do however hide my keys in the car at night because i never remember where you put them the night before after a few around the fire...

Camping at Somerset Dam a few years back (when it had water in it) and through the night some low turds knocked off a heap of fishing gear from the camp right next to us!! I think I saw the guys but don't know if they were with the camp or not as they said hello etc and kept walking into the camp.. at about 9pm.

In the morning we find that their camp has been robbed while they slept and my diving wetsuit which was hanging on the prop of the boat had been slashed with a knife a few times??????

We try not to camp near anyone these days, that probably helps with theft too ie: you can hear someone coming.

Camping at Cullymurra Waterhole we returned to a devastated campsite.

A rogue team of Dingos and Crows had completely destroyed our pantry. We found the Dingos running down the track with 2 minute noodle wrappers in their mouths and all our Oranges had the guts sucked out of them by the Crows!..... Bloody thieves

Hahaha thats some funny stuff!

Your story made me remember the only thing i'd had stolen! Was at Fraser a few years back down at the old boat ramp fishing off the ramp. Noticed my tarp had come loose and was flappin away so we headed back to fix it and what do we see? A sneaky dingo that had somehow undone the latches on the esky along with the few ocky straps it had around it and helped himself to both of my bbq chickens! He had one in his mouth and I put the wind up him, he dropped it and ran into the bushes but to my surprise he flanked me and swiped the other one while I was inspecting the damage of the 1st!

They are so sneaky, I use maximum security now!!!

There was a bout of thefts going on at Blowering dam a few years back - I'd heard of boats going missing overnight and camps being ransacked. I had my GQ parked on the foreshore (we were up there bike riding) and just after we left, one of our group had troubles and headed back to camp. Just as he got back, he saw 2 blokes walking towards my 4by from a boat. Soon as they saw him coming they about faced and pissed off quick. They must have been watching us while pretending to fish I suppose. Reckon the mate saved me that day. Shame we didn't have a torpedo handy. Aint much worse than a low-life thief I reckon.

TOO PROTECTIVE!!!!.....have a go at this, we were at Jowalbinna NW of Cairns on our way to the Cape in 02'. Took us a full day to 4wd in.
The night camped at Jowalbinna I had my steel caps stolen that were sitting next to my swag and the old mans spot light covers were stolen. If there were ever a time to let your guard down this place would be it.....absolutely in the middle of no where. Just couldn't believe it.

We new who did it, two blokes in a Hilux that left camp early that morning that obviously drive the Cape praying on campers.

We caught up with them though at the Wenlock:D FANCY THAT!!!! Considering we were in a convoy of 7 vehicles including 8 blokes (3 were huge) I don't think they poached again that year:D!!!!!

At a ute muster me and some mates went to recently a bloke had his brand new XR8 ute stolen while he was sleeping next to it in his swag!!!!! He hadnt locked it (probly coz he was 6 inches away from it) and the pricks rolled it away quietly and then took off with it. Same muster, people got up to go to the toilet in the middel of the night and had their swags stolen while they were having a slash. but thats slightly different to the camping your talking about.
In the caravan park at Cable Beach i had 2 empty fuel jerry's pinched while i was having an arfternoon nap, in my open swag.
At capricorn roadhouse (Newman) my camp stove and kettle were stolen while i was paying for my fuel. I had just made a thermos of coffee and i thought i would let the stove and kettle cool down while i got some fuel so i could put them back into their box and hit the road. The were sitting on the tray, underneath the canvas canopy i had at the time, so they wearnt even visible.
There are scumbags everywhere, i doesnt take much to put valuables somewhere safe. Having said that, how secure can you make a campsite?
If someone wants it bad enough they will probly get it no matter what you do. just hope that if someone tries to pinch something you catch em in the act, hopefully with a maglite in your hand, as your walking back from watering the trees.

Cheers
Dave

we go double island every year, and we've never had anything stolen. but we always pull absolutely everything under the tarp, and take everything with most value with us. we also had our green 'Fusion' alien, that we put with our flag, turned upside down on the flag pole on the sand dunes, but it's never been stolen, niether has anything else. however i'm paranoid about it too.

We were camping in a caravan park in Byron Bay one year for splendour in the grass which had some little prick locals (I dont think they were over 14 years old) running around the town causing havoc. We heard some noises in the middle of the night between my mates tent and my car and got up to find these little $hit$ ripping down the fence pailings to get through to the caravan park, so we said our piece and went over to see the security guard patrolling the van park. He told us there was about 25 of them now and they had been walking through the van park stealing drinks out of eskies, and that the police had been informed but hadnt been seen in that part of town yet.

It doesnt leave you with many options considering you have to leave your camp and car at the van park when you head off to the festival for the day and night.

We were camping down at a Northern nsw caravan park a few weeks back and I remember hearing somthing through the night. The missus woke up as well, some little bastard was trying to get into our camper!!! The zipper was ever so slowly moving so I sat there waiting for them to get in...after about 10 minutes (felt like hours) i heard em trying to get into the tailgate! I tried to get out of bed a quietly as I could be they heard me get up and legged it... I tried to catch up with em but by the time i stuffed around with zippers and velco they were off..... I was dirty as and slept pretty dam lightly after that. When we got up the missus said she had found my mobile phone outside...but i had mine in my pocket. Turns out it was the little thiefs phone, they dropped it. I went through the numbers and found HOME, rang the number and spoke to mum. Wasnt that an interesting conversation. apparently the little buggers had nicked a few wetsuits and told mum they brought them from "friends". The owners had reported them missing to the c/van park owners who we chatted to and told our story.... They were kids!!! having a sleep over and had snuck out.

ANyway the wetsuits got returned and the kiddies a pretty harsh talking to by mum & dad, c/van park owners and local copper....

Now if we leave the camper I lock the two zippers together with a little padlock, as well as everything else not bolted down.

Camping in the bush we usually put away anything of value into the tents but haven't done anything more than that. It seems like an unwritten rule you don't flog stuff from peoples bush camps. Sor tof like how you can leave your money for the bill at a restaurant on the table.

Caravan parks are another thhing. Theft from there is a lot more prevalent and we always try and keep anything of value under lock and key in vehicles. Also make sure we put away tables, chairs, lights, boards, wetsuits at night.

Makes me nervous about Fraser.. we had a big group last year (5 cars 11 tents about 20 people all up) and we'd all leave camp for a day trip...

I wonder, is it worth putting a padlock on a tent if you come back to find your tent slashed open?

One easter while camping at Inskip point, woke up to find my 15 foot boat stranded on the mud flats about 5km away. First thought that I had not let out enough anchor rope to allow for the big tides, only to find that the outboard, fuel tanks, forward controls, and everything else that was in it, was gone. They completely stripped it. Outboard was a 40hp, so would of been more than one. They even removed the bungs, in a attempt to try and sink it. I can never understand why someone would want to take something that is not theirs.

Like they say, locks only keep the honest people out. I think its just better to pack all valuables up when you leave - A pain in the arse but think of it this way... If you have your $1000 fridge stolen, think of how long it took you to take home that money, then think of the worst days you have had at work...

Its easier to pack them away when you head out.

I am yet to fit an alarm to my patrol, but when i'm camping, everything valuable gets locked up inside it. It's partly the reason why my windows are as BLACK as they can be. Not going to stop somebody if they really want what's in it, but at least it's not in plain view then...

I can't understand why people steal shit. Whenever I've been camping I've had no trouble with stuff being stolen (lucky I guess). I always keep an eye on other people's stuff who are camping near me when they are gone just to make sure there's no scum around and people have done the same back to me.
I've found the majority of campers are decent but you do get the scum of the earth who pray on us. I'd never steal off a fellow camper, i know how hard they've worked to get their gear and know how I'd feel if someone knocked my stuff off.

But if I ever catch bastards ramsacking a camp, well that's a whole new thread to start.
Cheers.

The good thing about catching would-be thieves red-handed on a remote campsite is that they can be buried where they stand and no-one would be any the wiser...

ive been pritty lucky, but my mate was not so well off, we came back from a dive and caught a bloke red handed in the back of his ute.
My mate saw a bit of red and gave the guy a bit of a tune up. (Rightfully I thought) The guy ran off and about 10 minutes later the police turned up and charged my mate with assault.
We had caught him so he didnt have any of our stuff on him, there was no proof he had been trying to nick any thing.
Funny thing though, he had to turn up to court as a witness, and found his fingers slamed in a taxi door as he left. You realy shouldnt annoy a mans girlfreind outside a court room.
My mate got off the charge too cos the police had messed up the paper work, funny how justice somtimes prevails, isnt it?

We're always pretty careful while out in the scrub (chain/padlock generator and fridges to vehicles, trees etc) and have never had anything pinched but a number of years ago, just before leaving on a camping trip I'd laid all my tools, tarps, spares, compressor, recovery gear, second sparewheel/tyre, tent etc etc out on the garage floor. Got up in the morning to find it all gone. Telling the next door neighbour about it later that arvo, while sympathisizing he let something slip that aroused my suspicions, a quiet word to the constabulary, they interviewed him, did a search - yep, the bastard had broken in and pinched the lot!!! He shifted house very soon after!!!

The Coppers probably messed up the paper work on purpose as they knew your mate was "really" in the right and therefore the charges would not hold up in court ;)

I was returning to my old rodeo once to find a guy trying to break in. I walked up to him and showed him the keys saying that it was easier to get in using them . He shat himself and bolted . About a week later he was was dropped off at the prison where I work by the police and I had to induct him . We recognised each other and we'll just say that he was transfered to another prison the next day . He was caught breaking in to a police officers personal car and arrested on the spot.

Someone I know went to a shopping mall in Sydney. Returning with brand new GP boots and a case of beer, he found some dick-head patiently removing the spotties from his car. The dick head looked up, but feigning indifference, my friend put the case of beer down on the bonnet of a nearby Ford as he made to find his keys. Assuming the Ford to be his, the dick-head squats back down and gets back to work.

*Whack!*, the new GP boots get road tested in the ribs of the dick-head.

I had my leatherman nicked years ago, but been lucky since then. I'm always careful to pack beforre we leave site, as much as one can with canvas.

When we stayed in Port Macquarie at Xmas, there was a lot of reported robberies in the caravan parks, so took extra care to at least make it difficult for the b&ggers.

That said, I heard noises at home last night, came out this morning and some little cretins had done damage up and down the street. Also had the ashtray (and ~$80 in gold coins) nicked out of the cruiser with it parked in my driveway at Xmas. The cash I could handle, but looking at the hole in the dash made me mad evry time I saw it.

The first I knew of it was the almighty thump of a tackle like you hear in rugby or grid iron games. Out from the end of the awning fell this bloke, arms akimbo and my compressor flying from one of them. He went down face first and I realized the hound was attached to the fella's right arse cheek and was enthusiastically tugging.
He stood and tried to run but the woofer had a mouthful and was hunched up with back feet in the dust, resisting.
They disappeared around the end there into the gloom with the dog tossing its head and wriggling its powerful body.
I love that darn dog too much and was terrified for it.
I shouldn't have worried.
Woofer soon trotted up out of the night with a mouthful of denim and lo and behold a wallet with teeth speared right through it and the multiple named credit cards inside.
The gendarmes were most interested in these, and left the dog out of it as they went to his house and were told he was at the hospital having his arse re-attached. He was arrested charged and put away for various serious crimes, and all because he was poking around in the crate where the dogs frisbee and ball collection are kept.
Friendliest dog in the place too. The gendarmes came back for an update and beer and were very impressed with the friendliness of this handsome protector.
The thief should have stuck to credit card theft.
Do your arse stealing at our campsite.

Literally.

HAHA I like that 1.
but credit card theft is not nice when it happens to ya.... the bank twigged on a unautherised transaction, now 5k poorer.... until the bank recoups and gives it back

camping at the caravan park on cooloola beach 4 years ago (before we had the fourbies) had everything outside the tents stolen whilst we slept.... left first thing that morning and demanded for our money back, kicked up enough stink to turn away 4 new arrivals, never going back there again

...i guess the only thing you can really do is set up a spottie and sensor- aim it at the ground, hanging from a fixed pole, the thieves will leg it when they are caught

camping at mount stapyton in the gramps me and my mate came back from a bouldering sesh to find our food box had been opened and half our food gone. Damn roos. Operation skippy chuck took force that night and poor skip could have been entered into the olympic hammer throw! Gold medal performance

Camping no problems, Fraser no worries as we stay North of Waddy so there is less people to worry about. Caravan parks are a different story, Pottsville South is one of our favourite spots and one easter we were there and these kids were walking around the park viewing all the sites and decided to jump into a van and walk out with an esky full of grog, problem was my mates that owned the van were walking back from the BBQ and spotted the two kids (teenage) and out group had about 30 people in it and half the blokes I wouldn't take on and I'm 6 foot and well built, so they were caught and after a small rough up they disappeared, but guess what half an hour later they were back but we were waiting for them - so another rough up eventuated and they didn't return. My wife has had lots of clothes taken from clotheslines at parks - on two occassions it was undewear and bra - either another petite girl same size as my wife or some sick prick getting his rocks off!

We always chain our waeco up to the van and put lots of stuff on top so that if they opened it up it would make a huge noice and then "Youbbie" would come out to play - "Youbbie" f&cked if I hit you with it!

Thanks Scarecrow 2, I'm new here and appreciate the appreciation.;)

When the poh- lice were doing the initial report they asked standard questions like "Do you have any idea where we might find the perpetrator"

I answered "You could try Karaoke or any country and western bar. The fella was one hell of a yodeller"
They nodded and wrote it down but when they came back that night they were in hysterical fits over the joke. I guess they got a demo at the hospital and they twigged.

That atittude by banks is so ridiculous when you have money taken from your account.
They didn't take MY money. They took YOUR money (the bank), more to the point you GAVE it to them.
You sort it out but don't penalise me for your poor security. You're a bank, it's YOUR job to safeguard the funds.
Identity theft, how on earth do they get away with that?

"Sorry sir, all your funds have been stolen, someone stole your identity so we gave them all your money. It isn't our fault."

"Er, there is a problem with your logic. I am me. My identity hasn't been stolen. I am still me. I was me and tomorrow I also will be me. Someone tricked and deceived you and you gave them money from my account.
THAT is your fault! "
Or you could play them with their own logic and totally freak out.
"My identity has been stolen? What do I do now....wait.....who am "I'......who do I be now......am I allowed to go back home to my wife and chidluns.....and if I am not me why are you telling me it is my money that has been stolen?"
Its just a stupid ploy at denial of corporate responsibility that most people wear.

ive been pritty lucky, but my mate was not so well off, we came back from a dive and caught a bloke red handed in the back of his ute.
My mate got off the charge too cos the police had messed up the paper work, funny how justice somtimes prevails, isnt it?

justice aye;)

Hi, first time poster. Been a member for a little while, but thought this might be of use:-

I was camping in the Wollemi National Park during September this year. Me and my 3 young kids. About 11pm I went to visit a tree and saw a young guy helping himself to cold Jim Beam from my esky about 10 feet away.

I grabbed him and my first thought was to drag him to his parents and spit the dummy, etc, etc. I said to this young guy "Why are you stealing from me".

He looked down at his toes for 5 seconds, and raised his head and said: "Cause I wanted to try a drink, and thought I would get away with it".

I thought this young kid was actually being honest, and told me the truth.

We sat down by the dying fire, and I asked him to have the drink. He told me he was 17, didn't have any problems with life, missed his girlfriend. We had another drink together, and I think we connected. (Yeah, yeah I supplied a 17 year old with two cans of Jim beam).

I left it at that. Two days later his family packed up and left. I found a note under my wipers with an appology, and a $20 note.

I'd like that think that guy grew up that night. I am actually disappointed I didn't his or his family contact details. I know they live nearish to me from our chat.

I think sometimes lessons can be learned in other ways, I learnt not to blow up....I think he learnt respect. Oh and the $20, I gave it the Salvos at the local shopping centre a week later. We all won!.

hey Tony, great story. good to see that everyone had a win in this case. It's a shame that most cases aren't the result of such "innocent" motives. good work, that may be one less thug in the world. :thumb:

Its so disapointing to hear fear of theft when camping . we have so far been lucky. But why would other campers steal? It cant feel good. Went to Morton Isl 6 wks ago and never had a problem. Peaple there were great. Make me think thefts are out siders. All of us campers need to look out for each other. Arista well done on a young kid. I hope you changed his life.

I know it's putting people into classes but you'll find areas that are out of reach of people who can't afford to get there will be safer than other areas. For example, moreton is not cheap so generally only 'real' campers go there and rat bag teenagers on a booze trip up to rainbow beach won't make such a trip.

True....You could apply that to the amount of rubbish that gets left behind as well.........

Yeh i've noticed that a bit with Moreton, there aRe certainly cheaper places for them to go if they just want to sit back drinking piss all weekened. Heck the barge fee is probably the equivalent to 5 cartons!

The only time i've heard of anything being stolen while camping was at straddy in 2005 Queens bday weekend, bloke in our fishing club had his shower cubicle and some sort of mobile shower stolen. Was far from impressed. He said there was some young people camped near him that were gone when he returned to base, shower had magically wandered off too.

went to a music festival in NZ in the 80's.
The guy next to us came back to his spot to find EVERYTHING gone except a can of baked beans generously left in the middle of the flattened patch where the tent had been!

So how about the other side of the coin?
Has anybody on here stolen anything from a campsite? Those stories could be interesting also!!!
From a crime prevention viewpoint of course. Thieves are everywhere, and not always poor.

Well, there is some suspicion that there was more to the story about my dog.
When the Police came back they explained that there was a donation made to the local scouts, all in cash and an amount very similar to the 4 grand that the thief claimed was in the wallet that the dog came home with.
They asked if the Air Compressor damaged was about $300 bucks and I said that was spot on. Sarge nodded wisely.
I asked if the donation was $300 short and he said it was.
I nodded wisely.
Sarge said the money smelled of laundry detergent.
With a straight face I said it must be laundered money, maybe drug money.
Sarge laughed, and pointed to the box of Omo in the crate near the door.
I said I liked Omo because of the good smell.
Sarge nodded wisely.
Sarge said Omo was a very common detergent.
I nodded wisely.
I pointed out that although there was a question as to the good character of my dog due to the fact that he came home with a wallet but that didn't make the dog dishonest.
She came into possession of the wallet during honest toil and by accidental circumstance, trying to arrest a thief. That didnt mean the dog had pinched the money and given it to the Boy Scouts.
Sarge agreed.
I pointed out that if the dog was dishonest she wouldn't have handed the wallet in, probably would have taken off with that womanizing doberman across the caravan park and headed for the beaches and easy tourist pickings at Broome.
Sarge laughed.
We agreed coincidences are funny.
We had another beer and talked about the plans being made for the scouts hall. The dog came out with a frisbee and asked Sarge to throw it.
Nobody mentioned the holes and indentations in the banknotes.

I always take my valuables with me when I leave camp. If I go for a walk, I lock my stuff hidden in the car and then hide the keys or take them with me. I have never had stuff stolen, but then I tend to leave my camp in a bit of a mess and I don't really have anything of much value that I take camping so maybe theifs aren't interested in what I have...

We have managed caravan parks and resorts for many years now and find that most theft is petty and usually items easly portable.

People tend to leave things out in the open that they wouldn't consider doing at home and thats where they know their neibours. EG: surfboards, fishing gear, bikes ect.

The only major thing that went missing was a 40hp outboard of a tinny. The bloke and his girlfriend were asleep no more than 2 metres form it. After a big hoohaa it was found that the bloke dumped it to claim the insurance. Put a sour taste right through the park at christmas.

We have had up to 2,000 people camping and caravaning in parks at some places we have managed and have never lost a thing, so it makes you wonder.

Cheers

Fortunatly I have only had the one bad experience over the years.

Some years ago a group of us were camping in a remote spot on the waters edge at Yalwal.

One day we returned to the camp site to find some of our food, ALL of our grog, some clothing and camping gear gone. I recalled seeing a couple of 4wds pass us on one of the tracks so 4 guys jumped in one truck and raced after them.

When we caught them they were a couple of local guys out mucking around in the mud. We had a cursory glance inside their 4wd's and they were empty. They tell us the place has had problems lately with theft and had not seen anyone.

We drive into Nowra and report it to the local cops and come to terms we will not see out items again.

Funny enough, about 6 months later I get a call from a lawyer and a Nowra inspector. I am asked to make a statement and appear in court and give evidence thet I saw an Orange early model Patrol in the area. It turns out this guy caught the thieves and belted a couple of them to within inches of their lives and are now pressing assult charges. I saw in the photos of the theives camp site some of our possessions among many other peoples.

2 days later, case dismissed due to an error in the paper work and charges pressed against the theives. Last I heard they were someones biatch in a 6x10 cell.

Never got our stuff back!

Luckily for them they may not have had the chance to press assult charges if some of the guys with us had caught them.

One instance. I'm alone in the scrub and sitting on the tail gate having morning tea. A rough gypsy sort of "bush walker" comes along and stops for a chat. His eyes are darting everywhere and he ascertains that yes indeed, I am on my own. Drops his pack and starts rumaging in it. I ask why. Says he is looking for his knife in case he needs it. While he's busy I just reach behind me and place a small tomahawk beside me with my hand resting on it.He notices and stops. Asks what's that for. I reply, just in case there's a tree across the track. Without a word he grabs his pack and walks off with nary a backward glance. Makes me wonder what might have been though.....?? Or was I lucky?

I have never had a problem whilst camping but back in the day when i was right into the BNS scene it was a different story...

There was a group of Braindead fools that I never quite enjoyed the company of but for some reason one of mates did and had invited them to park up beside us. Anyway after a good few beverages me and another mate came back to the ute for a rum when we found one of these fools red-handed knocking off my 2L bottle of Bundys finest out of the back of my ute. For some reason they thought I was completely stupid and tried to tell me they had confused my ute with his, I had a red VU with a hard lid and he drove a shitheap blue VR with a tonneau... Nevertheless his phone ended up going for a swim in my esky, was good some how the backlight stayed on all night giving the esky a nice blue glow every time we opened it... I didn't notice at the time as I was rather loose but the second swag of my mates that had been in my ute wasn't there, didn't work it out til the morning as my mate had found another "more comfortable" swag to sleep in. Anyways had a quick look in old mates ute and voila there it was... We got it back...

At the same ball My passenger side mirror was knocked off, I doubt it was deliberate most likely someone staggering past on struggle st, given the level of drunkeness i dare say this was the case.

I think that was the last ball i went to, seemed that the good people were starting to get far outnumbered by the bad. In saying that though had some cracker nights I think i was just getting old.

We had other things disappear at various other balls from time to time like aerials and spotties, also had a ute keyed...

Kinda takes the shine off the night getting things knocked off or damaged.

Call me naive but I reckon most people are honest.

Whenever i make the effort to say hello to any "neighbours" out in the scrub I usually find they are similar to me. Hard-working blokes who just want to enjoy their days off. They take pride in the vehicles and camping gear they have bought over the years and respect other people.

Personally I think thieves are really taking a big risk in the bush - because if they get caught they may never be found again!!

i remember as a 16 year old shooting out near Warren, we wre wandering through the bush and came across a campsite and hanging off the tree by a deadmans noose was a sign . The sign said have a drink ,use the fire place but leave everything as you found it. The footnote was i might be gone a day or a week or i might be in the scrub behind you. That taught me alot about camping and respect in the bush.

I used to share a house with a guy many moons ago that could not help himself, he would pinch anything from a bag of ice at a servo to anything that wasn't nailed down.

The only incedent I have had was on night at a campsite in Mt Isa, after a few dusty days on the road I had washed all my clothes and hung them out to dry, when I came back later they were all gone.

Local cops said it was probably a local.
