so as title suggests has anybody picked up the new land cruiser 70 series?

if so what do u think?

any pics of it dirty yet?

any mods?

just asking because apart from wanting one badly (but cant afford one) my dad is thinking of getting the 5 door wagon.

I saw one of the new wagons on the road last weekend out Lowood way.
It had a 2" lift, sunny rims & a set of muddies, plus a bullbar.

Looked pretty good & sounded great.

After our work trucks little acrobatic stunt... im guessing we'll have one as soon as the insurance cheque comes through!

in one of the early threads on here someone put a 5 door on order after driving it for a day - at the time we were saying that he would be the first forumer to own one - can't remember who it was but was in one of the early threads (not the landcruiser replacement thread but the other one that was going at the sametime) - whoever it was said they would tell us all about it when they got it - they musta gone bush cos we haven't heard back

Saw an awsome black one the other day with huge truck stacks, they must have been 4" minimum maybe even 5 or 6" they were absolutely huge like the ones the yanks put on their cummins powered dodges and powestroke effies, sheetloads of loverly black smoke too. Awesome sound as it thundered down the road with the turbo howling. It was lifted pretty tall and was running on a nice set of alloys, probly 16's or 17's from the look and 35" claws. Custom short arse tray with big twin, polished rollbars with XGT's on top and some trick looking toolboxes, that i reckon have LPG tanks in em cos there was 2 LPG tags on the numberplate. I noticed however that it was minus a front bar and even the bumper had ben removed, so my guess is this cashed bloke is having something custom made up, to match the rest of his awsome truck. Time will tell how good they are.

Cheers
Dave

it amazes me.......where do people get the money???

that's like $56,000 (or there abouts) plus goodness knows how much in mods already - maybe another $20G

well I spose there's plenty of other cars that cost a lot more than that

Saw one up at Stockton the other week. Shame about the pesky yanks in the background that messed up the photo... :)

Good to see the hummers had a good recovery vehicle :thumb: I was up there the same weekend I saw all those hummers driving down the road when I was on my way to anna bay. The dual cab yellow h1 was awesome looking. I hadn't seen so many h1 hummers out of America. The 5 door troopy in white rv spec looks good:thumb:

Those new troopy's look like 1988 Holden Jackeroo's with a few minor changes and a big bonnet scoop. From the front anyway.

The 70 wagon was actually the 4wd monthly photographer's..... so you'll see some more H1 photo's in a few months time apparently..... but I'm probably not supposd to know that..
Not sure if our rigs made it in the background of their shots or they just got the ship wreck. We tried but we shall wait and see.
Credit must also go to my mate who actually took the photo. Was definately the pic of the day.

hmmmmm.

Not sure if this is a slagging or a fact.

Be nice to know the cause too, if it be a fact ;) (like did someone try to teach it how to swim)

I'm a survey who works in the exploration business and have clocked up 10000 in the new ute. Have pretty much ran it 12 hrs a day since she rolled of the lot and most of that was with the hubs locked.

Hasn't missed a beat, only complaint is the toyota LSD should have got the diff locks.

I think it is Bull$hit.

I dropped into Britz in Melbourne where their HO is, and where they fit out the 4x4's. The mechanic said they have nearly 200 x V8 Diesel 70 series and he has never heard about any engine problems. Surely they would see something if there was a problem, most go to the north and are driven by a bunch of Germans who expect to be able to go 200kmph. He did say they have had about 4 roll over though. He put it down to the high roof that Britz put on, and drivers who had never driven a 4wd or on dirt.

FWIW he also said they have started buying Patrol 3.0 CRD since Toyota dropped the STD Landruiser and they have had no probs with that engine either, but they rattle a lot more than the 100's according to him.

Was checking one out while I was waiting for Toyota dealer to fix there stuff up on the Lux...although I only sat in one for a few minutes I did not find it comfortable. I found the Lux has more room for the driver.
