Hey all, I'm lookin at changing my 98" Couier style side Xtra Cab to an ally tray..... Overall It looks preety simple, But are there any problems or dramas I may come across when I start it, as I have never done one before...
Its also on gas, so the gas tank is underneath the tray at the moment... would I be better to leave it put or place it up on the tray.????
Any advice would be muchly appreciated..

There shouldn't be to many dramas. Are you making the tray or gettin 1 made? I personaly would leave the gas underneath the tray so you have more useable space. The only hitches that i could see would be the fillers for the gas and fuel tanks and the tail lights.

Why would you want the gas tank taking up room on top ?
You should have even more room underneath with a tray as they sit above the wheels, whereas the well body sits between them.

Removing styleside trays is very easy. The only things to look at are the wiring for the rear tails lights which is attached to the body not the chassis.
You need to disconnect the wiring from the back of the taillights and the fuel neck from the body before you lift off the body. Six bolts only on the extra cab courier.
The gas is a different story. If it is bolted to the body not the chassis you are not allowed to touch it unless you are gas certified. You can move the filler yourself but not the tank.
Saying that many people have done this themselves and as long as you do not make any major changes to its mounting or location you will be fine.
You will need to get new taillights as the existing ones are not legal if mounted under the tray.
