(IGNORE POLL IT WAS A STUFF UP AND I CAN'T REMOVE IT)
Here is my new BT50, I got it for a good deal as I was deciding between all makes and model's. The BT was the end choice as we went to the motor show and the Handbrake was happiest with it interiour and exterior, and I was happy with the price and looks. Took it up to Bright on the weekend and was happy with the way it performed. I will be decking it out with roller draw's (home made, any suggestions?) roof bars and lights, bigger tyres when i can afford it and cb.

Thanks guys im really happy with it, it goes harder than some V6's ive driven. Thinking about starting the roller drawer designs this weekend, i will post my designs let me know what you think of them, might chat about the idea's for it tonight actually.
Not sure how strong the bull bar will be with a winch i think it would have to be engineered (steel brackets behind it or something). I will wait till i really need a winch as i plan to travel with someone who already has one :) . When I do i think ARB will be getting an order for one.

After the 4WDOTY test, the BT 50 looks like an option for me. A question on the factory bull bar. Do those end of the bar that protect the lights have any flex? How solid are they?
Thanks!!!

factory bullbar for the price is not really worth it they are alloy and i would say you could get the arb steel one for around the same price. I work at mazda and i can't beleive the price.

all these new factory alloy bars are crap, there is to much flex in them for a start and not really and good for a winch

factory bar looks pretty good but it doesn't really give you a good approach angle hey. It might just be the angle of the pics though. they do look like a very neat package, look forward to seeing what you have in store for it.
After winning the UotY you'd have to expect a few companies having aftermarket stuff out pretty quick.

I would like to see a arb bar side steps and the side guard protectors. Plus a 2"lift running some micky-t mtz 265/75 r16 tyres. that would finish off such a great base truck. (I think in the next month arb will release all there bt50 range)

Thanks for the positive quotes guys. This truck will mainly be used for touring and weekend trips around the hills in Melbs and as a work vehicle.
So suspension and tyres will upgraded when the missus complains about the rough terrain (as she thinks its fine now LOL) and a nice set of tyres are also on the wish list.
The bull bar (and carryboy canopy) was included so i thought what the hell i'll sell the bar later to someone that only wants a alloy and i'll go the sahra bar when i need a winch.
The approach angle is affected a little (by the looks of it), I did notice that as we had the car for 3 weeks before the bullbar was fitted (they forgot it LOL)
The bars strenght is not too bad, i pulled and pushed it fairly hard and it feels alot stronger than i thought it would be.
If there are any more questions about the BT just ask im happy to chat about anything.

I like the look of them, and how well it drove when I took one out the other week.
The one I drove had no accessories on it, so, I would have to do something with it to make it that little bit better.

Sounds like a good price with the carry boy. I've ordered the Ranger XLT with tow kit and soft tonneau and i've had them change the tyres to BFG A/Ts from scratch. I'm paying $41K Dont get it till mid Aug can't wait!
I'm also thinking about building some drawers myself so i'm keen to see what you come up with. My brother did a great job on his drawers for his patrol so i'll be pinching some ideas from him.

CHEERS MATE, the drawers will be a new design and concept that i dont think anyone has thought about. Eg the bearings will run on the top and bottom giving you more side space. Hard to explain but i might put up some drawings soon to see what ppl will think and if they can have some input.

Yeah mate, the carryboy is the right stuff. I love the interiour (flouro) light, the quality seals and the overall finish of the canopy. I've got a basic ARB on my other work truck and i hate it, haveing 2 locks on the rear suck and the latches have been broken into really easily as they are only cast alloy (really thin). The carryboy can be locked when you open it then you just have to slam it shut to close/lock it. You diffinitly get what you pay for. I got Mazda to put the Carryboy on instead of there crap one they wanted to put on.
The only problem i can see with them between other brands is there is no internal bar's hence you can't stowe heaps of gear on the roof. im not sure what the safe load is but i think its about 120kgs. You don't want a heap of weight on the roof anyhow, keep your heavy gear as close to the ground as possible.
CHeers hope this helps dude,
I haven't been on these pages for ages, good to get back on though. :thumb:

Update, UHF has been installed, just have to read up on how to get the most out of it. I wanted a nice neat install so that is why i got the GME Tx3440 with the controls & screen on the mic and a RFI CD900 6.5 & 3 db Ground Independant Antenna Combo. The best place for the UHF speaker was in the passenger kick panel (can hear very well too) and the mic has been installed just above the mirror out the way and even out the way of crims looking in your car.
Let me know what you think.
Cheers J.

Next update will be wheels and tyres, then drawers. Maybe bar and lights too depends on finance's and the handbreak. :-)
