I have a 2.8 hilux and every couple of weeks the 80amp glow plug fuse blows...
After talking to a mate his does it too. I wonder if this is a common problem and if so has anyone got some ideas for me to start looking at to find the short?

How old are the glow plugs, and how much current are they drawing.??

Have you had any luck with the problem as mine has started to do it as well. :(

Must be the cold weather. Been a lot of problems with Hilux glow plug systems the last week or two.

I tracked it down to the glow plug strip touching the engine and shorting out as the insulation had deteriorated.
Just pulled the strip away where it was close and havn't had a problem since.:waycool:

Common problem.
Also when the back-yarders or Servo mechanics touch a diesel Hilux, they re-install the insulator washers wrong!
BTW, the glow plug fuse unbolts from under the holder so stop smashing them to get them out of wrecks at the wreckers. 8 and 10mm nuts.
