Well, when my wife and I moved back to Sydney from Griffith 6 months ago, we were gonna lose her work ute, so I looked around for something cheap to buy that would be economical on fuel and handle the long counrty trips well.

I found a 99 model 2.7TDI Terrano II with 97,000Ks on the clock for $13,000....It was up in Brisbane - so it was a good excuse to fly up there, get the car and head for Faser :D

He it is...the day after we got it, goes real well on sand

The terrano has been needing some new rubber for while so a week ago I got a set of 31x10.5xR15 MTZs put on and the torsion bars wound up, after a bit of cutting of the front guards and bumper the tyres were clearing and we were off :D..........last weekend it was time to test em out

Here are some pics

Terrano IIs are often under-estimated in their offroad capabality - I still have completely stock suspension and the rear flex is fantastic....they have an excellent 2.7L turbo intercooled diesel offering heaps of torque and power, a very strong drive line and the same LSD as the patrols:thumb:

here's some flex pics

wound up about half way I think, I think it handles better (corners and speed humps - cos was too soft and bouncy B4) - it was far too soft before the ride is a little more harsh though but hey I used to leaf springs so it's still luxury for me :D ....probly lost a bit of travel but the tyres and rear fles plus LSD makes up for any loss

Hey Bricki,

nice lookin terrano mate! Those boots really set it off.

The video footage looks good, I know how you feel though, the camera does take away from the degree of difficulty.

A (stoopid) question if it's ok, do these come in an auto with the deisel?:o

Cheers. :thumb:

unfortunately no auto - they only had a manual box with two spec ranges the RX and Ti - the petrol motor was a shocker (slow and thirsty) but the diesel motor is a real pearler:thumb: ....economical and heaps of power on the freeway - u can hold 110Ks up steep hills....and the rear flexes real well with standard susp - the gearing is also quite good - real solid gear boxes too - it's like a mini patrol for a fraction of the price:D

ah that's a shame (for me), I only got one wing so DOT won't let me drive a manual these days. Thanks for the feedback. :thumb:
