Gday,

Ive just bought a Magellan Meridian Colour for the Hilux and it only has the basemap.

I want to load a street map, tracks etc onto it.

Is Discover Australia Topo what i'm after or are there different kinds of software - ie are Discover Australia and Discover Australia Topo different from each other or the same thing?

How much does this software cost?

Also how do i load them - is it as simple as installing the software then just plugging in the unit?

Thanks.

alot of shops now have these maps already installed on the SD card, which you buy from them and simply take off the battery cover and remove your batteries and you will see the slot. Insert the card and load it in (see your user manual) and youre off!

They shouldnt charge you much more thatn 150-200.

To upload the detial maps, you need to make a Region in discoveraus. The meridian cant handle the topo lines, so no point in getting discover aus topo.

Once the region is made, you need to transfer it to the GPS, then change the map settings in the GPS to use the detail map. There are issues with DiscoverAus not being able to make maps very big, but it it easily gotten around.

I think discoveraus has now been superseded by Mapsend Lite, which needs to have the maps downloaded from the GPS.

PM me if you have any issues, I have a copy of the discoveraus the the meridian colors use also...
