dominik

thanks mate.
the deck is an Pioneer DEHP2650, nothing to special, i has what is called pbus. I use an RCA input adaptor that plugs into the pbus and the sound from laptop is input to the RCA adaptor and you have sound. As for speakers i run pioneer 3 ways up front and 2 ways in the rear...still working out where to fit the amp and sub....ill try and get some photos of the setup

Yeah running it this was has worked quite well. Looking at your deck it has an aux in on the front of the deck. I wonder how it would work with just using an 3.5 male to 3.5 male headphone jack cable...can get them from jb hifi....should do the same job as my setup, i just dont have a aux jack and need to use the pbus(also called Ip Bus)
3.5 to 3.5

Thanks Dave.
It's surprising how useful that tape measure really is ;)
I've learnt the hard way do it right the first time or it costs twice as much by the time you fix it.

I have only just bought a mav too, but I have some questions.
Are you happy with the airtec snorkel as I am wanting to buy only but cannot afford a safari and don't know a lot about airtec.
Mine has an extra strip a long the middle of the other stripes. Is this standard?

Yeah i can't say i have had any problem with the airtec. I can't really compare it to an safari as i have never had one. I dont see there been any difference between these two...but as Auspwr said you can make one from stainless steel and rubber bends. I have the airtec as it was on the car when i bought it but if i had to get one now i would make a stainless one. All comes down to price and what you prefer.

Since we have got back from Cape the mods have started for the next trip, TASSIE!!!
New Rubber to start with
http://images.cars4life.multiply.com/image/31/photos/13/400x400/2.JPG/161_6171.JPG?et=G5hnmKUkZsnhSoVvzKJLxA
Next was the 3" suspension lift with Dobinson springs and Ridepro shocks
http://images.cars4life.multiply.com/image/27/photos/13/400x400/18.JPG/162_6256.JPG?et=39GImrSGzWBT%2BJuUXZOw9Q
Then put in the castor bushes in...now I realise that I should of done the spaces to move the diff forward at the same time...oh well...
http://images.cars4life.multiply.com/image/21/photos/13/400x400/19.jpg/Picture%20008.jpg?et=wP2iCU5oxofmCvpdvQkqpA
Then the CHEEZY bomb proof lower trailing arms, 16mm longer. These things just don't compare to the standard ones. The solved about 90% of the vibration issues with the drive shaft, going to get adjustable uppers and hopefully this will eliminate them all together. I'm not running any gearbox spacers.
http://images.cars4life.multiply.com/image/22/photos/13/400x400/24.jpg/Picture%20015.jpg?et=Qae%2BtKa4wMKGHgED%2CTQbrg
Adjustable panhards 10mm longer seemed to center the diffs again.

After some testing with the rear tyres and since the longer lower arms where put in the tyres rubber the rear quarter/guards badly so it way chop time. Using the laser level was the easiest was to get an even line for me.

http://images.cars4life.multiply.com/image/25/photos/13/400x400/29.jpg/Picture%20028.jpg?et=zi9BZge9qnlLz2Z4ANTAyg
Now I have also realised that I need to cut the wheel arch itself. Any one got any suggestions as to how to do this and also create a lip so it looks factory. The only thing that I can think of is that since it's two panels that meet up cut the rear panel to where the lip edge is to start and then fold the front panel around that....
This is how the front sits now

I cut the rear gards a little more so the tyres would fit nicly at full flex and gave it a little more room so when i upgrade to 36" they will fit nicly too. The base plates also installed and pop rivited into place for easy
replacement if need be.

The rear bar is also starting to take shape. Planning to have a twin swing away set up, for one spare and then jerrys and high lift.
Have used 40NB medium pipe to build the rear bar.

Cheers mate! Ideas, I have a scrap book full of them but some of the costs associated with these ideas aren’t so good! Although slowly I will tick them off.
As I’m sure you are aware when you think you are nearly done with this kind of project a great idea pops into your head and the project is started again...half the fun!

Mate the shorty has come up a bloody treat! just went from start to finish on your thread and you've come a long way. Interested in the design of that rear bar :D i have yet to make mine!
dominik
07-11-2007, 12:08 PM
Cheers Mate! It has changed quite a fair bit in the year and a half that I have had it.
The rear bar is a simple design using medium wall 40NB pipe and 8mm plate elsewhere. I have added an extra hole on the side mounting plate so there will be a total of 4 bolts each side holding it in place.
I have used a cheap Chinese pipe bender with a dawn die and that has worked well. It’s a bit hard to get it all aligned but it can be done. I did stuff up one bend a little but nothing a little heat with the oxy can't fix. If I could afford it I would get a proper pipe bender.
If you want more info just let me know.

Hey Mick, thanks mate. I have a MK shorty as well with a similar setup just no cargo barrier can post up some pics if you want.
Yeah you do loose that rear seat and there most def have been times that mates wanted to come out and there wasn't any room. This is a good excuse for them to get their own rigs though!! Some else to got out wheelin with.
