just would like to know if anyone knows if i can connect my magellan 315 to HP ipaq rx1900 via a lead for mapping software purposes

Not sure if you are trying to access the PDA. I connect my 315 direct to the serial port on the PC with the 12 volt power lead which also has a serial port plug on it. I only use the connection to load waypoints etc.
