Magellan Explorist XL

looking at getting an Explorist XL, but I am wondering can I copy the contents of someone elses SD card to give me Austracks/topo etc? Would rather put $$ of cartons of beer :drink: in to a mates pocket than pay over the odds for the Traveller Pack. :D

The Topo SD cards are locked to there software, you can copy the software all you like BUT it won't work on any other SD card except the one it came on. Great if you wipe the card and made a backup but sux if you loose the card.
Find some that wants a copy of the Disc OZ Roads and Tracks it comes on a CD and has a two Serial number security limit. So you can put it onto two GPS and split the price.

Actually was looking to be able to back the card up........had too many cards destruct in Cameras and at $400 a go, you'd be cheesed if went wrong! and thanks for the kind words Sarg :crazy:

I have the topo SD card and it won't work if you copy it as far as I can tell. There's some sort of copy protection on it. It can be backed up but the GPS won't read the SD card if it's a copied card, as far as I know.
