yeh the hilux is a 2.8 d with 430,000 km fairly stock apart form the bar work and 2 inch lift. KC daylighters spoties , motor has extractors also. in the last 12 months iv reco'd just about everything apart from the old 2.8, including gearbox, transfer case clutch, rear diff, engine mounts and alternator , the old girl runs sweet now and clears the track leading your more 'prissy' 50k plus fourbies through the scrub
the old girl lux i reckon is the tuffest car ever made bar none and i could never sell her

My new rig the 96 GQ patrol is a 2.8 turbo 190,000 km completely stock apart from winch bar
A snorkel and fridge are being fitted tomorow at arb richmond hopefully the patrol will do the job with our around oz trip coming up soon

heres a couple more pics after a few months and a few thousand dollars any way the old patrol did us proud as we powered across australia, one day doing just over 1200km strait. i no its not much realy but heres what we have to date

yeh not a problem in the world just that one sweet sounding diesel sound all the way over , some heavy duty suspension would of been nice

yeh it goes good , its not a speed demon but if you keep the turbo spooled up she purls along nicely , sat on 110 kms all the way from melbourne fully loaded, no probs that was for a good 12 hour strait run.
soon il be posting a full rite up of mods possible with costs also , there one down fall is the price of parts and accessories seeing as they arnt as comon as the 4.2
