Well I think I may have to rip off that idea for a spit. that pork looks yummy.
Had a BBQ last night and used my camp oven with hot rocks and used Roothies pumpkin and potatoe bake recipe from sc outback challange 2. Turned out nearly perfect except could have used a bit of garlic but no one complained. G

No dramas;) :D works a treat with a 5 amp fuse in the fuse holder, have used it to turn over a 18kg whole sheep and you could grab the pole at the end as hard as you could and it still wont stop, and it's super quiet!
Camp ovens hey? well i guess thats a whole new thread is'nt it?
We have just started exploring that area, and with a little success too!

I had just cashed in a gift voucher I got for my birthday so I picked up my first camp oven. one of those things I alway was gunna get but never got around to getting. so I cleaned all the protective crap off it and seasoned it and thought "bugger me I'm gunna have to cook something now" and away I went. Heat beads work a treat.

Yep heat beads are good, whack 3 pegs in the ground and put the beads around them and rest the camp oven on the pegs, lets a bit of air around the beads to let it heat more evenly, we also use chacoal, that is what is in the fire in the above pics of the pork, gives it a heaps nice taste too!;)
when i find the cord for me camera so i can put the pics on the puter i will put some up of our camp oven lamb leg with BBQ sauce marinade! Mmmmm tasty!

gday mate
congrats on the spit roast, ive been thinkiing of getting one myself for a while
my query would be can you take the holding bracket off (or do you even need to)
if you wanted to put the spit roast on a normal hooded bbq , (the ones with the holes for a spitroast motor and rod) or would it all get in the way
if i could use one of these for a dual purpose (camping and a bbq ) then id definately get one
regards
