gearbox oil smell

when i drive my cruiser for say a few hours then i stop and leave it running or just turn it off and close the doors when i come back with in 3 minutes the whole cab smells like gearbox oil i looked underneath the car there is no oil leaks and the breather is working so what could it be????

Cracked or leaking boot on the gear lever?

so if the boot is crakced it could be letting the smell through
hrmm i will check that

I had that for a while but only when I drove in sand or something softer... turned out to be the diff breather as when I was in softer sand and the diff started to heat up the breather would put the fumes under the car and they ended up coming through the air vent....

Now that I have extended the breathers and got it all sorted the problem is gone!

May be your prob also.. i originally thought the boot at the gear lever but that was all good and I couldn't trace it back to that point at all..
