What are some of the better caravan parks forum users have stayed in? The ones that show value for money, cater for kids eg good parks, safe pools, well shaded sites if in the warmer months, clean amentities, evn friendly locals.
One example I can give was the Flinders Ranges Caravan park in Hawker S.A. they had the little things that make your stay more memorable like shampoo, soaps ect in the bathrooms which is good news for any traveller that has been on the road for a while or at the end of a big day. Very nice people running the park also.
Do people ask for a little discount if staying for a certain period of time or discount for kids?
I guess if its good and you get looked after word of mouth is the best advertisment you can get.

Cobdogla Station caravan Park is one of my favourites. Clean ameneties, even fresh flowers in the blokes dunny/shower block. Donkey cart rides and a small native zoo for the kids, canoe and bike hire and vouchers for cheap meals at the local club.

The Big4 Caravan and Leisure Park network has been good. Have used their Cabins, Tent sites and Caravan sites - all good so far. Not the cheapest, but good faclities. Once you join up (annual fee of about $30) you get a discount after every 4 or 5 stays. Some of them are a Km or so out of centre of towns, and the majority of their sites are around the Coastal areas.

One of the best we've stayed at was the Big 4 Parkgate resort at Halls Gap.

The big 4 park at Robe was good. Clean amenities, indoor pool, pedal cars for hire for the kids. Only downside were the sites are small but then you should be out of the park enjoying the area.
But my personal favourite is Tathra Beach Caravan park and in particular the Hobbs Corner section

Yes mate it is a top little spot hey, but unfortunatley he has closed it down, or is very nearly closed as he is going to develop it into price water front blocks, we stayed there at xmas time and found out the bad news.
Was worth $1.5million as a park and about $7million as land, so guess what that meant.

i really liked the van park at longreach, it was crowded when i was there last year, but still comfy, all clean showers and toots.
The council one at wooli is another great one. Right on the river HUGE sites, fantastic for the kids, with a great pool with waterslides ( my fav ), putt putt golf, tennis, huge camp kitchens and is dog friendly.
One i didnt really like was the one at birdsville, although a nice view over the lagoon, showers were disgusting, they smelt shocking, and i wont start on the council depot and airport being right beside the caravan park- but thats just my time when i was there in july.

Can't remember the name of either of these, but -
The one right next to the pub opposite the jetty in the centre of Ceduna is a good place to take a break when driving across the paddock. There's a back gate and quick easy access to the pub - great counter meals.
And if you drive through the centre of Port Lincoln, up over the hill till you hit the "T" junction on the coast and turn left, there's a brilliant park with drive through sites all the way down to the water's edge. You can catch a feed of fresh squid off the small jetty at the bottom of the park.

The Port Neill caravan park is great, I spent all my holidays there as a kid. I have been back since for new years etc. BTW Port neill is on the coast, just north of Port Lincoln SA! :D
