That was when the fire had burnt down after a few hours too! We were 5 times the distance away then!

he he, little campfire! Sudso, good to see you stoked up the fire just enough so you can go back this winter and she'll still be going! :D :D

lol! Nah not much chance of that, nothing really left now thats burnable. That was when my mate and his missus just bought the property (10 acres) and we cleaned up the old dead and fallen timber to clear the paddocks. Kept the smaller stuff for the slow comb heaters though:).
We dont have the luxury of gas mains out here unless you're within a few kays of the line from Portland to Adelaide. (Electric heaters and renting gas bottles for heating is waaay too expensive).
The gas line is only about 50 kays from Bordertown but the owners didnt see it viable to run a branch off to here even though the huge meatworks here has 2 gas fired boilers and various other gas heated appliances, plus half the town uses gas in their homes and businesses. Go figure:rolleyes:
Yeah big bonfires are still enjoyed out here mate :D
We dont worry too much about the so called effect of our campfires, you should see the smoke from the bushfires that mother nature starts around here every year:eek:

here's one from work a few years ago. it took 2 days and 2 cruiser utes to collect all the timber. i think it worked out quite well! :D my mate chris was tyring to protect his palm tree with the garden hose, but it didn't do much. it was still smoldering 24 hrs later.

Last easter out at Pebbly Beach we were out numbered by kids again. The bonnet is up on the 80 because the marsupials put a hole in the top radiator hose 2 nights running. Davehttp://www.forster-tuncurryremovals.com.au/camp.jpg

somethink dont look right here ,why isnt the grass dead around the fire ,it green right up too the fire. with that much heat the grass would be dead around it.

I think it looses some of the image appeal when you push it down to 640x480 and then make it fit under 90kb, but this is one of my favourite camp fire pics.
