My mate when I lived in Rocky has a cabin up there & believe me it is nothing like it used to be. 4 of us used to jump in the tinnie & set 2 crab pots at about 3am then go fishing all around the creek mouths & hit some bombies until around lunch then pick-up the pots & we would have easily between 10-12 crabs in each pot with a boat full of fish.
We used to do this every couple of months. But all the proffesional fisherman have made it nothing like it used to be. Now that isn't to say that you can't catch anything up there but it is nothing on what it used to be !!!!

At eden in nsw you will have to be lucky to catch those fish though, theres thousands of them in this little river we found with our tinny but we couldnt even get a nibble from them!

There are still plenty of these spots in the Kimberley, believe me - some relatively easy to access, some not so easy.

I'm not telling.

because then everyone will be there.
The Cape is definately the pick of places to catch big fish, which is why we are headed to the gulf in October.

I lived up in the Torres Straits for a yr & went fishing every weekend. Not sure about the crabs (plenty of crays), I'm no fishing guru, but i swear you only have to spit of the hook & wait 30 seconds. It is isolated with limited accommodation, but it is a magic spot.

Shoalwater Creek in Qld. You have to stand behind a tree to bait your hook. One small catch, you have to join the army first and get a few days off during an exercise...:p

A good mudy is usually a purplish brown (used to do it for a living )
