Hi all,
Currently have 7.50 x 16s a/t wranglers on the patrol and i am having heaps of dramas with them.So currently looking at a set of different rubber.Got talking to a guy from bridgestone and he recommends 235/85 16 a/ts,reckons a lot of the telstra cars are using with a good reponse.will have to get new rims as they need a 16 x 7 rim(can use 16 x 6)but not recommended(eg let tyre down for sand).I want to go for a slightly wider tyre for sand drving as well as to handle load.Anybody tried these,I think bridgestone call these D661's?

I have some Bridgestone Dueller ATs as my road tyres & they are useless. BTW they are 235/70-16 on 16*6 rims
If you want ATs, get BFG or Cooper STs

I have found the duellers to be really crap in the wet but didn't do at lot of off road with them except sand and were ok for that.
But I wouldn't touch them again because wet weather performance

Just bought BFG muds 265-75/16 for $270 each. I guess that 235 ATs will be much cheaper, probably $230.

Rims start around $60 each (for cheapy speedy ones) & go up from there, depending on brand / quality.

I know of a set of 5*90 series Prado rims coming up for sale in late September, but price is undecided.

Everyone has their choice in tyre so you will get different responses, I have cooper ATR on Jeep Grand and Bridgestone D693 AT's on Landcruiser. I cannot fault the bridgies over the coopers and they are made in Oz and cheaper. The cruiser tryres are 31.5 x 15's and the Coopers are 245/75/16. The Bridgestones are only slightly wider than the coopers. Wet weather performance for this type of tyre is acceptable.
