I couldn't believe my eyes tonight as I walked out from finishing a shift at 11:45pm (I work for Ford) and my ute was missing from the carpark on North Shore road. It is parked there regularly, so I'd say some low life has noticed this and taken off with it. Reported to police straight away.
The Ute is a 2000 model GU, it is white with a steel tray. When it was stolen, it had no sides on the tray. It has stickers on the lower doors which read "DIESEL / DX 4.2"
Registration number TWC-208
Details of parts if they should turn up around the traps:
35x12.5R15 Pro Comp Mud Terrains x4 mounted on white 15x8" Sunraisia style rims (about 5,000km old)
TJM steel winch type bullbar (no winch) (near new) missing one plastic cover between the spotties and has 2 aerial mounts, one looks good, one is just a piece of flat bar with a hole in it welded above driver side spotlight and painted.
Lightforce 240 Blitz Spotties (about 4 year old), one spot, one with spread beam lens cover. Special feature is they have both been hand painted black around the outside of the lens cover.
Uniden UH-100 sundowner UHF radio with a few extra screw holes in the side (about 10 year old) and GME AE4705 aerial (thick, white, about 1.2m long)
Safari snorkel (about 1 year old)
Black Duck canvas seat covers (grey) for drivers and 3/4 bench seat (about 6 months old)
Dual Battery system, can't remember who made it, though.
Super Cheap galvanized toolbox mounted on tray on driver's side.
Hayman Reese tow bar with tow hitch solidly seized in place.
I'm bloody spewing, You don't realise how much effort you put into a vehicle until you write up a list like that!

I found my ute today about 2 km from where they pinched it. They had parked it nose in to the wall at a business premises and swapped the back number plate with another one so the cops wouldn't pick up on it.
The scum have made a mess of the drivers side door lock and the surrounding metal work. Also ripped apart the steering column and broken out the ign barrell and steering lock. pulled the dash apart and ripped out my cd player and UHF along with the uhf aerial on the front bar. On top of that, they had some bolt cutters or something and broke into the tool box on the tray and pinched a bag of hand tools out of there.
I don't think they really knew what they were going for. Unless they planned to come back later, otherwise they would have gone for the lightforce spotties and the wheels and tyres first.
Bloody pricks probably did more in damage than the value of the stuff they pinched!!

Mate, at least it is now tucked in at home now.
Tools can be replaced, doors can be fixed. At least now you can now buy the Alpine CD player and brand new UHF you have allways wanted.
Good to hear though.

Just a general tip for a little piece of added security with 4wds...When you park it somewhere just leave the transfer case selector in neutral. The bastards are always in a hurry to get moving, so when the car doesnt move...they panic...and run!
Worked for me!

Hello, i recently purchased a sundowner UHF-100 off ebay and i know the chances are slim but i could help but sus it out anyway. Mine has a couple of extra screw holes in the sides and came without an arial. No box and the manual has been reproduced off the net. The item id on eBay is:120168332847 (http://120168332847&sspagename=adme:X:RTQ:AU:11/). I am near Ballina NSW.

Well Where the Geelong factory is located, isn't exactly the sort of place thats safe to walk around at night (if you can understand where I am coming from) Corio an Norlane are Geelongs low income high crime areas. I lived near there for 2 years.
A good idea to also help future thefts is to install a kill switch to the fuel pump. Dont do it to the ignition- they get around it. And hide the switch well (not in the glovebox or ashtray or under the dash.) Be very creative (Get an auto-elecy to do it if you cant)
Glad you got your pride and joy back though mate

Wow, this is a bit of a blast from the (not so distant) past!
Lissd, I have contacted you via email. Thanks heaps for your honesty. Not sure if it's mine yet, but we may find out.
Thanks to all those who expressed condolences on losing and congratulations on finding my ute.
Also thanks to AAMI for doing a great job fixing her up good as new (and with upgrades to the stereo and UHF)
Cheers,
Krusty

Why wont it work?? The brake is on the tailshaft, stop the tailshaft spinning and the diff wont move, then the wheels wont turn, and the car wont go! GU is the same as a GQ
