As the heading says I have a Meridian (Yellow One). I basically inherited it of a close mate and don't know if it's like a computer after a few years obsolite. I used it while on holiday in NSW and couldn't really figure it out but I saw my self move up the HWY and it gave me all the readings. ALT, speed, temp etc etc..

Is this unit any good, is it capable to be hooked into the oziexplorer software. I took it to tandy and another electronic shop and it seemed like they were on cloud 9,10 and 11. Didn't have a flippen Clue. (just like me).

I have a new HP laptop and Have purchased oziexplorer and also installed a hema cape York map and would like to marry all 3 thing to the Meridian.

Also what cable do I get and were from.

Thx to all :)

What is the model of your unit..Is it the older Sport Trak

I think it might be the older Sport Trak.

If you go to this link it take you to a PDF of the Operators Manual.

http://www.magellangps.com/assets/manuals/SporTrak_base_en.pdf

If it is the Sport Trak you can get a PC cable for them, It will be a older serial type connector so if you have a modern Laptop and it doesnt have serial plugs you will have to get a serial to USB adaptor and oziexplorer will connect with that unit and work fine.

G'Day,
The model you have, I believe, is and Explorist 200 and therefore has no ability to connect to a PC. The Explorist 400 and up can so I'm afraid that you are out of luck. As for reading it you should see a set of co-ordinates and a sector map reference. The map reference will be somthing like 56J and this tells you what part of the world you are in relative to all the other maps. The co-ords will be either degrees-minutes-seconds or UTM (Universal Transverse Mercator) which is measured in metres from the bottom left corner of each map sector. That's why you need the sector reference. There are a number of other things that you need to know about to use your unit to find other peoples GPS co-ordinates with out getting lost or going to a completely wrong location.
Try doing a google search on how to use a GPS or somthing similar and you should get all the info you could possibly want or need.

Doesn't say on it or in it if its a sport trak is say in the start up screen
2002 thales navigator. don't know what that means maybe its a 2002 model.

Are the new ones easy to use and in your opinion what would be suited to me. I want something very basic to do tracking on the laptop. Not Cheap just user friendly
Thankyou

Go to the link in my last post and it shows a manual of the unit and it has a pic on the first page. See if it looks the same.

Can you take a pic of it ??? and post it in here ??

Then we can help you out.

There are many different models that are yellow from different brands.
