This is dad's 1996 petrol auto 80 series. I am really proud of it. Mostly used for beach work so nothing too special just IPF's and bullbar. It used to have jigsaw puzzle graphics down the side of it but we removed them as they were peeling and fading. Had it since 1998 and will prob not get rid of it for a long time to come.
id rather have rear wheel drive all the time and 4wd when i need too
This is my Mighty 80, 3inch lift, EFS shocks, drawer system, 40lt Engel, GME uhf, re shimmed LSD, M8000 warn winch, sahara leather seats, Kaymar wheel carrier, safari snorkel, and a whole heap of other stuff.
Soon to be for sale, as upgrading to 100 series

I've only got rear dakar springs because the old ome's had seen better days. I have nothing but praise for them, they've carried enough gear to take my three kids into the vic high country for 8 days and they never bottomed out once.

Off road it goes great with the twin lockers. The turning cirlce is a bit of a bugger offroad, but the benefits outweigh that. Tracks that I used to struggle to get up I can craw up them now with no wheel spin.
On road the only real drawback is that when I am turning slowly (like parking in a carpark) the car jerks for the last few metres - it's the locker 'ratcheting' if that makes sense. Again, this is something that isn't that big a deal.
I bought mine from Rocky Road in the US at about $390 each. I have seen them on Aus recently for about $500 each though - when I was looking to purchase them they were about $800 each here.

I think that is Ivanhoe Crossing near Kunnanurra WA. I lived there for a while a few years ago. (I may be wrong)
I was crossing it one day and got to the little island part in the middle and there was a big croc sitting in the middle of the road, the bastard wouldn't move and I had to reverse back through the main part of the crossing. That was probably one of my most sphincta winking experiences in my life.
Here's my bus.

Yeah Sixtys Guy, the Powertrax Noslip lockers are $880.00 each here but the standard Lockrites are cheaper, I got both my Noslips from Rocky Road for $1193.00 at my door, the normals were $786.00 delivered for both
PS: With the Noslip there is NO lurching at all on bitumen..Silent operation

Heres a few of my 84' HJ60.
2H turbo diesel, front and rear ARB diff locks, 2" suspension lift, 2" body lift, 35" MTR Wranglers, 2" extended shackles on front (set to the correct angle).
http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i145/g_loomis/HJ60%20chop/done.jpg
Obviously been cut down to an extra cab...Custom barwork on every side...winch bar, sliders (not ion pic, but have been fitted since pics) and tray.
http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i145/g_loomis/HJ60%20chop/tray.jpg
Future plans are coil conversion on the bum end...and maybe the front as well! If the spare $$$ ever pop up the diff gears will be changed out to something like 4.88 or maybe even 5.11
http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i145/g_loomis/HJ60%20chop/back.jpg

thanks mate. Yeah I got plans, but need to sell my 4runner before I can start. Got the parts sitting there waiting to convert the front to disc. Got some new/2nd hand front springs, just need to buy some rears and extended shackles. Once the runner goes I will get some new tyres. Looking at MTZ's. Might even splash out and get some chrome 15x10 steelies. Will put a chev in it eventually. I'd really like to find a style side tray for it to make it a bit different.

If your snorkel if plastic and as long as you have not put any sort of silcone product on it you will be able to paint it.
1. you will need to plastic prep it, it removes the mould release agent
2. next you will need to plastic prime it, the is what allows the paint to stick, it is clear so you can paint it any colour you like.
3. paint it with said product.... in colour you like..
4. probably alot eaiser to remove snorkel and take to smash repairer and let them paint it... you may recieve change from 100 dollars depending on colour

G'day all,
New member here..I am looking to buy a landcruiser shortly but need some assistance. I will have around $20 - 25K to spend. I am likely to do a little bit off road driving finding fishing spots etc. as I live in the North West aswell as also doing a few long runs to different places. I have a missus and 3 anklebiters that will be coming along with me. The last thing I want is to become stuck somewhere so I have been looking at the reliable 80 series. I would like a 95-97 80 series Turbo diesel with the 1HDFT motor. However I believe they are quite rare because I have not seen one for sale. Would they be out of my price range? Has anyone got any other suggestions? Would like something with a bit of grunt and fuel efficient so thats why I have been looking at a turbo diesel. Any suggestions? Are the patrols with 3TD any good? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers Slammer
