Guys,
I have a set of standard Steel Prado Rims, 16*7 & on their current offset, I have a couple of problems.
1. The front tyres hit the suspension trailing arms on full lock
2. The vehicle is unstable on slight cross slopes.
What I have done so far to overcome this is to put a small spacer on the front wheels which moves them out by 5mm, but this is still not enough.
What I want to do is to get a different rim (maybe a sunraiser) with a different offset to move the wheels out by 25-40 mm on each side & fit flares to the guards & sort of keep it legal.
Has anyone here ever done this & if so, how difficult was it to get the rims & where from.
BTW, this is only for my offroad tyres, so I will only need 5 rims.

most tyre retailers supplyers should be able to get a custom offset made by any of the australian wheel manufacturers or have a listing of what rims have what offset, so maybe they all ready make the right offset rim for you.

i should have checked that after i posted it i don't know what happened. what i typed but didn't show up was, you should be able to get some wheels made by an aussie company such as ROH wheels or the like to suit your requirements, but maybe they already make some in the right offset for a different 4b your helpful local tyre retailer should have a pamplet with this info on back spaceing and could order special offsets if needed.

I think I will give them (ROH) a try.
I will check a few retailers, & as I have a bit of time up my sleeve b4 my next planned trip, it will give me better negotiating power. ;D
Check this out, it may help?

Already running 5mm spacers on the front (illegally), but 2 problems.
Any thicker & I will need longer studs.
Still rubbing.
I reckon it will be safer to change the rims to a 75 series or 80 series type as they have a deper "dish", thus giving me a wider track.
BTW the rims currently are 90 series Prado.
