Hi all,

My name is Luke im 20 and relativly new to 4wheelin so ill probably be giving you all headaches with my questions. I own a 1980 Hilux which now has a holden 308 v8 in it, I blew up the 253 out bush a month ago so I thought id upgrade lol. Ive replaced so far the rear diff centre as the v8 tends to give the old hilux diffs a caining, replaced the clutch plate and redone the old 4speed gearbox which i want to upgrade to a marks heavy duty 5 speed. Ive got 35's on the way and suspention mods very soon. Ive heard Landcruiser Diffs are the way to go to beef up, is this a good idea?
Nothin better than 4wheelin!!

Welcome Luke.
U may have to replace the whole dif assembly to fit cruiser bits as I am sure they are a different size.
They are a bit stronger than the lux ones though.

What would be a good suspention setup for a hilux?
It is SO stiff as is, it shakes all the bolts lose lol.

If you dont carry much weight in the back get a few leaves taken out of the back spring paks and get them retempered or just get new softer springs alround. Just go to a place that knows the Hilux so they can help you and get it right first time instead of just trying to sell you somthing and then you having to do it all over again.

Like Statue said, u could remove a few leaves & that will soften it up.
If u want to spend heaps of bucks, u could go for a coil conversion, but it can be more trouble than it is worth.

Jon has a good setup on his at Jon's 4Lux Site (http://www.4lux.net) <----------- Click here for the url.

Thanx fellas the Hilux is booked in for suspension mods next week (hangin). I decided to go with, 4" suspension lift (leaf), Rancho shocks, superior shackles, cross over steering, with 35's. body lift only if tryes need room.
