Ive got a 88 TD Bundera and its overheating after travelling generally after highway work then coming into town the temp sky rockets. Ive changed the waterpump, thermostat, hoses aswell as tightened belts and coolant. How do you know when youre clutch fan is not working properly. I am about to get my radiator checked to see if it has good flow or not does any one have any sugestions!

I don't know if there is any actual way to find out, but for about $20, you can but 2 small bottles of the oil for the viscous fan & then pull the fan apart & add the oil.
I did that & afterwards, I new when the engine heated up because I could hear the fan start up.

When the motor is cold try and rotate the fan, it should be able to turn but there should be some resistance, if there is no resistance it is stuffed.
Then when the motor is hot try and rotate the fan (turn off the engine first) ;) it should be harder to turn but should still turn.
Just a basic test but when you are getting the radiator checked out get them to check the fan aswell if they are any good they should be able to help you with it.
hi,
when you first start up in the morning you should be able to here the fan it will go quiet after afew seconds when the clutch disengages and when it heats up you will hear it again as it cuts in and out, it definitly sounds like a fan or blocked radiator problem, the radiator or a/c condensor isn't blocked with bugs or has a lot of bent fins ??? how is the shroud around the fan or have you done a body lift ???
