I am thinking of having a crack at doing the castor correction mod to the fourbie to save a few dollars rather than paying out for castor correction bushes..

The mod itself looks relatively straight forward but I will have to run a few welds to the radius arm mount on the axle...

Apart from making sure the heat doesn't kill the rubber bush what should I look out for when doing welding to the rig..

In particular I suppose, it is the electrical stuff I am concerned about... I would think batteries should be disconnected first or is that not really a concern??

Engine is not computer controlled but I have electric brake controller, stereo, UHF etc etc

Thoughts please!!

if you have an ecu, its mandatory.

If you have an alternator.......I guess you do :) hehe, then if you dont disconnect it, you run the very real risk of frying your alt diodes.

The business that installed castor correction plates to my GQ for the 6" lift welded them on to the Radius arm brackets at the front instead of redrilling and bolting it.
They still bolted it at the rear of the brackets though.

I wonder if they disconnected the battery when they did it cos the previous owner had to get a new alternator soon after and the supposedly schmick battery died on me a couple of days ago.

Getting proper radius arms to suit the lift now anyway and getting rid of the castor plates.:D
