Ok Mitsubishi owners, it's time to revolt!!
Tired of being down troden and frowed upon for driving the 3 pointed diamond?
Getting no respect from owners of so called other "iconic brands" that presume to be better than our rides?
Here's a thread to vent our spleens or just to talk shop for our "far superior" vehicles pros and cons.
So lets see how long we can keep this thread alive and on top.
Paj's rule!!
(in the Mitsubishi world at least!!!)
ANd they look great in Blue

Rockynl, i'm sure with the rate that u'r bolting on bits the Ed from 4wd monthly will be knocking on your door for a feature article soon.
83ladaniva: where are you and your old man goin fishing?
Quite a few years ago I had a 91 Triton Club cab and pulled out the 2.6
and fitted a VR Commy motor and 5 speed box into it,AWEsome !!
It didn't get an easy life especially off road and I never had anything
break and was running 32"s with a 2 ihch lift. THe only prob was finding a
clutch to handle the grunt. I guess that's one of the reasons I've ordered a 3.2 GLX-R
as the Ford/Masda Bravo I have hasn't impressed me much.

A bloke from Murray Bridge caught 3 big mully's this weekend near the 42, one was a 90lb'er!
And when the Missus and I stopped at the Shell roadhouse Kingston for lunch on Sunday a guy was weighing his catch on the scales there, 140cm mully and fat;) .
Yes its the time of year to be mully hunting at the Coorong. Dont quite need a winch though unless you hook up to an 8' ray

Does anyone else thinks that it sux that the issue 101 doesn't have a Paj included in the best 4WD of '06, and if you got the back issue from "05 there was'nt a paj in that line up either? Whats going on ED, Paj's not good enough for the test. And you can't say that there wasn't any new models that were released in that year, when the Prado, jeep, Nissan models were nothing but upgrades anyway. Come on 4wd Monthly give us Mitsubishi drivers a look in here.
Any one else agree?

There's Bitamissin's SAS NH Paj (on Outers. Not sure if he's on this forum). One niiiiiiice, hardcore Jabber :D
Best Pajero moment was at Stockton. Entering via Lavis Lane (the steep way, if you go straight instead of turning where the sign says 'Beach Access') we came across a GU Patrol stuck and almost sliding off the edge of the track. Owner reluctantly accepted a tow (with a kinda 'oh well, if it'll shut you up' attitude), thinking it was useless. GOLD look on his face when the little Paj pulled the big GU out. That was one very happy customer :D
Go the Pajero's!!!

Gave up on the bloody thing (mind you, it is not afraid to fly), gave it to the missus as her shopping trolley:D .
Went and bought the Mighty Patrol and have not looked back - Go on you know that you want one - Just give up on the Triple diamond, not worth

Yup, O.K, I know. The old man has a '03 ST oil burner It's a nice rig and I like to drive it, and if i was the only person that had to drive I would maybe....maybe have one in the garage. but the missus has to drive it as well and she don't like the "truck like handling of the patrols" so the Paj won out.
Don't worry Mits fans, i'm not crossing over !!!

Yeah have done a bit of damage to them, not so much now with the 2 inch body lift and 33's, but managed to get a decent size stick jammed up between them and the L/H door sill 2 weeks ago up in the high country, put a real nasty ding in the door sill.
Reckon some rock sliders would be the go, but would meen taking the mudlap sections on the side of the gaurds off, which might look a bit weird?

For Paj owners here is some gooood news
stolen from outers posted by Bitsamissin
3.5 Rear ARB Locker Update.
Well this project is comfirmed.
The tooling has been ordered and I've been told that they should be available to the public around April/May next year.
Interestingly the IRS centre is identical to the live axle axle version except for the axle spline/diameter.
IRS = 33 spline, 36mm diameter
Live axle = 31 spline, 33.5mm diameter
This means only the side gears will be different btween the IRS/live axle versions.
Sorry to rain on your parade, but I for one, would never buy another Mitsubishi vehicle as long as my arse is pointing to the ground.
Sure my NP had issues - I expected it to have them - but the total lack of support from Mitsubishi Motors Australia has ensured that I will tell everyone who will listen that Mitsubishi (the company) are a bunch of arseholes.
And I voted with my wallet. The replacement will be a Disco 3. I pick it up next Friday. And that's 90 Grand that Mitsi didn't even get a sniff at.
For those who are interested, do not fit a winch to a Paj if you want to keep your warranty. If you have an NP, fit a safety device to the bonnet to prevent it from flying open when the standard catch fails. Do not fit any tyres that do not match those sizes specified in the owner's manual - unless you want to void your warranty on suspension components. And I have just found out that Mitsi have a zero use policy when it comes to bio diesel for the Paj, otherwise guess what? You'll void your warranty.
In short don't modify it at all and don't drive off-road and you'll be fine.

I think i can remember seeing your woes in the pajeroclub forum Away. Would that be right?
Sorry to hear about the total lack of respect that MMA has shown you and any other Mits owners in regards to the warrantys on the NP's. So much for the 10y/5y deal eh?
Always suspected that the NP's may have been a bit iffy, thats why i'm none to worried about my NL as i would assume that Mits Motors would have pretty much ironed out all the bugs by the end of the model.
PS> if I did have $60-$70k to spend on a new 4wd I don't think that I would be buying a NS either, Be going Prado or disco3 myself

Thanks Otis for the heads up matey.
Could you pass on my sentiments regarding the omission of Paj's from the "Best 4WD of the year" isuue as well. Seems a bit sad that the Mitsu missus out for this face off 2 years in a roll.
No wuckers. I agree, the Pajero's a a good thing, but the mag chooses the best six or eight fourbies that they believe at the time. I think the Paj would come just outside that lot at the moment, so that's why it's not included. Keep in mind, the mag takes a fairly strong 'off-road ability' stance, and while the Paj is no shrinking violet, You'd probably agree that the Disco's, cruisers / Prado's are more capable. Maybe they should change their selection criteria - whaddayareckon? Not my ballgame anymore!
4wd26
13-12-2006, 09:23 AM
Based on the "fairly strong 'off-road ability' stance, why persist with the IFS cruiser when the live axel is still produced in the gxl and standard model 4.2 diesel trim. Just a thought based on off road abillity and not what the manufactures want to give you to test.
Rant over.....
Will have to see if the Pajero gets included next year as with a rear diff lock, as well as the "new big thing" traction control, would have to rank up there higher that the models mentioned for off road ability.
Cheers

Dont agree with a few of your comments in regards to the pajero itself ( we all have our own opinion), but have been reading your woe's with mitsibishi and can't believe some of the troubles you have been through with them, they certainly need to pull their head in big time.
Good luck with the Disco 3, hope you don't plan on getting it wet like the boy's did in the trip to the tip in issue 99, maybe they were just unlucky?
Hey pat, would love to see a paj in some of your tests, be great to see it mix it up with the toyo's and nissans etc. And while weve got you here, what you reckon about my shorty, is it worthy of a spot in your mag?

The 1994 to 1997 model delica`s are the best for off road work. The swb ones the pick. There is a palathera of goodies for them.Arb have since they first come out in 94 had lockers to fit front and rear.Any where up to a 8" lift is possible.Snorkel, iron man suspension kit, heavy duty bash plates, wheel arch flares and more. All ready most have two batterys as std.All have the battery tray to suit 2 batterys. There is already a space for the compressor for the lockers. The std air intake on the diesels is alredy half way to a snorkel as is draws air fom inside the drivers door.So they are as a std bus a reasonably well thought out 4wd.

the main part of the drawer system is bolted(4) to a set of rails mounted to existing anchor points in the floor. once the bolts are removed then the main section can be slid out of the truck(usually onto a forklift as i havent got round to making a trolley yet). the side pods are bolted to the main section, as is the cargo barrier. all in all takes about an hour to remove everything and to bolt in the rear kids seats.
i made up the rear disconnects after a member on the outer limits forum gave me the info on how he made his. basically i made a new longer bolt, then turned up the removable section and milled a slot in it. then a couple of holes drilled through the removable section to take the R clips. you could do it easier if you had some 3mm plate folded into a U shape.
i also made them longer than std to suit the lift.

In QLD we can have the rod holders on when we are carrying rods. As soon as the rods come off, the holder has to be either taken off or undone and folded up so there is nothing sticking out past the bullbar.
I still havn't heard of anyone being pinged for it though. They have been on the Triton for about 3 years and i havn't moved them, or been told to move them.

I think the cops probably have better things to do, unless you get pinged for something else and p!ss the copper off.

How water tight are the door seals cookie? I havent had a chance to get mine wet yet and not sure how deep it can go. Oh i like the brown paint job!!!
water seals seam pritty good, havent had an issue with them.
the thing you have to look out for is if you get stuck in mud/water and have to reverse, then the water(if it is deep) will come through the rear cabin vents next to the rear light cluster. i filled up the cargo area with mud the other year going through the puddle that i posted pics of earlier(sequence of 5 thumbnail pics).

Not a Pajy, but I've noticed as long as you keep driving you'll get minimum water in the cabin, if you stop, you're in trouble :(
