Is everyone who has a 1UZ Lexus V8 in there lux/runner/smurf happy with the cooling side of there conversions and how many are running A/C now?

Did anyone end up with a thermo on the engine side of the radiator?

Did everyone use the standard radiator?

I'm looking at a 1UZ Auto conversion so will there be room for a large trans cooler aswell?

Had 2 mates who put em in their utes. and it took a fair bit to get the cooling sorted...

I have the a/c in mine and twin thermos mounted behind the radiator. Its tight but I have not had any cooling issues at all even on the beach. My radiator is a alloy dual bypass custom job.

I also have AC and a thermo fan ( Davies Craig 16" push fan ) mounted on the front of the radiator which keeps the temp down nicely. I did have problems with temp with a previous no name thermo fan, but not with the Davies Craig. I have aftermarket VDO temp and oil gauges and keep an eye on them just to be safe. AC condenser is underslung behind the bash plate and the tranny cooler is mounted behind the front bumper. Standard radiator. I was looking at maybe a PWR alloy radiator in the beginning but can't see the point now, as no more temp problems. Hope that helps.

By the way it's in the FOR SALE section.

Hey Dazz, what auto have you got in that rig? And was it hard to match to the 1UZ? Did i read right that your a/c condensor and tranny cooler is BEHIND your radiator? If so do u have seperate thermo(s) for them?

P.S. I think your car is an absolute steal for that price, u just have to wait for the right buyer to come along!

Hey diby 2000

Not sure what auto is in it. I got it off a bloke that had already had the conversion done, he described it as "heavy duty". I Spent a lot of time researching and then went to Scott at Venom Custom Fabrications to get the wiring right and a few niggly things fixed and havn't had a bit of trouble in 3 years.
No mate, the tranny and AC coolers are not behind the radiator ( i have thought about it, but not enough room there ). The tranny cooler is attached to the front plastic bumper bar (no thermo fan), coming back from there you obviously have a gap and then the 16" Davies Craig push fan attached to the front of the radiator. The AC condensor is sitting between the bottom of the engine and the bash plate and has twin thermo fans on it. I hope that makes sense.

You're right about it being an absolute steal of a price considering the money I have put into it (sigh).

I see a lot of guys hammering Twisty, Nemesis etc with questions about there 1UZFE conversions, so I would like to see it go to someone who appreciates what they have. It's an awesome engine, sounds great and brings a smile to your face.

Nobody does engine mounts, they will need to be custom.....I think Bubs is the only guy doing the adapter your talking about....Scott from Venom knows a way to mate the lexus auto to a surf xfer but, so he'd be worth a call.

You do not need an adaptor to mate the Lex auto to the transfer case. You will need a transfer case from an auto 4 Runner or Surf. You will then need to cut the output shaft of the auto about 90mm shorter than it is, tap one extra hole into the auto at the bottom where the auto joins the transfer and modify the No 2 speed sensor which fits around the output shaft. You can do all of these yourself, except the last one, as the speed sensor is hardened steel and you will need to get it machined. If you're seriously interested, I can email you photos etc of exactly what is done. It is quite a simple and logical process though.

As for engine mounts, someone told me recently that CRS are doing them now, but most of the guys have made their own custom ones, as everyone has their own ideas of what rubber mounts they wish to use. I will admit though that of everything I did in the conversion process, the engine mounts where the most fiddly and time consuming and if I did it again, I would probably try to use the Celsior rubber mounts, rather than Falcon ones.
