I am sorry i know there is a heap of threads about v8's and hiluxs and ur probably sick of hearing them but nothing on here answered my questions.
I have a 1994 SR5 Spacecab Hilux 2.4Lp manual (remote hubs) and i would like to fit a 5.7L gen3 holden/chev motor inton with an auto box. I have seen a million 5.0L jobs and i wanna do something different i think it would just be a fun truck. Is it possible, who would do it how much modifying is involved!
Cheers Mick

Still got the ford, but i selling it and buying my mates Lux. I can the motor for 3000 and my mate has a spare TH700 with shiftkit and that done. Only drama is its a petrol lux which means i gotta re-do the diffs with lower ratios and then all i gotta do is strengthen the transfercase and all the drive shafts

I would also check that it can be engineered in QLD cause i am pretty sure you can only go to a 5L in a 4x4 lux and 3.8 in a 2wd.

I don't care the bastard is going in!
all i gotta do is strengthen the transfercase and all the drive shafts
and axles and cv`s and diff centres.
With a V8 and auto the t case has to be moved backwards, drive shafts have to be lengthened and shortened. You`ll need to change the pedals, relocate the handbrake cable, change the sump to suit the IFS front. Get the electrics to work which isn`t a huge job if you know about this stuff, but is a nightmare if you don`t. You need adaptor for the tcase to auto and then alot of little bits to make things like the speedo work. Then you need at a min a raditor out of a desiel hilux but this will only keep it cool on cooler days, it will still get hot on hotter days if driving it hardish.
Better opion is the 1UZ-FE 4lt alloy toyota V8, it has from 180kw to 208kw depending on what one you get. has 6 bolt bottom end, quad cam 32valve. Half cuts can be got for around $2000.00

speaking to a dudei n the know from DOT today and he said 5L is biggest you can go
HOWEVER, you can go the 5.7L technically if you destroke it to 5L to get it certified, then back to 5.7L after.
sounds like a lot of work to me.
