View Full Version : Getting the best out of your springs?
I was just wondering, how do you det a betmore flex from your springs. Do you use grease or graphite powder, come on spill all of your lettle secrets to getting more flex. ;D
Personally, i dont do anything to my springs but i do have some plough weights (200kg) bolted to the tray to get the rear springs wurking better. It works well except it brings the centre of gravity up a long way now that the trays at my shoulder height ::)

You could remove a leaf or 2.
That will give more flex, but you will not be able to load up as much.
Yeah, i know. I might take out those huge pacer leaves.
Also, has anyone thought of putting water in your tires? It would put more downward pressure on the springs and it would lower the centre of gravity??
What do you recon?............. I'm going to try it these holls.

We used to half fill tractor tyres with water when we were on the farm for extra traction, but the tractor was never going to go very fast.
I wouldn't put water into a car / 4wd tyre if you were going on the road with it. It would be pretty dangerous (centrifugal force).

Wouldnt like to think how it handeled on road.
It is bad enough when mud cakes on the wheel.

Yes it would lower the centre of gravity but how is it going to place more downward pressure on your springs?
Only if the tyres where ON your tray they would.
I mean that the extra weight of the tires would pull the spring down more. just like if you stand on the wheel if a tires off the ground it will droop a bit more...........
