Turbo Diesel also. In the Disco's at least there is very little difference between the TD5 and the V8.

Thanx Flapper, sounds like the go.
do they make a supercharger for a Lada?
do you need a supercharger on a Lada? :-\

I recon they probably would. Over capitalisation springs to mind though.
As for your second question, most definently.

o.k. so the lada should have a supercharged 6.2 litre chev diesel ;D
now that we have that sorted out, where do we put the difflock? front or back ? ;D

For something more different and sometimes useful, Supercharged Gas!
Cheapest running costs of all and hugely powerful, not to mention long long engine life and excellent driveability offroad ;D ;D

If your got the cash to do that, then you might as well put diff locks both ends.
Will ARB Air lockers do ?????
DIESEL,
almost as good a RUM!!

volvo drop axles already come with difflocks ;D
I had a 4.5 turbo intercooled 80 series which got down to 11.2 lt per 100km and had 220kw@the wheels, the motor is now in another 80 which has 20 psi boost and 265 rw kw...
Why would you want the passenger shovelling heat beads into the glovebox and run a briquette burning diseasel thing???????
Oh, by the way, there is a turbo intercooler kit for the V8 100 series too.......
Darren
Take your medication and check your driveway..........
AJ, I can only see my VY Maloo R8 from here....... 8)
But I do have a pasenger to shovel for the new tourer.....
already had the turbo intercooled jobbie.... ;D

wrong medication Darren.
Halucinations again. We know its a HQ Belmont really.....
like your HT clubbie... :P
You're buying a Toyota or Nissan & are worried about whether to get Petrol or Diesel :o
I'd be more concerned about your choice of vehicle :P

Mr Shed Guy,
Who makes the turbo/ intercooler kits you are talking about? Roughly how much?
Was it consistantly good on fuel at hwy speeds? (legal hwy speeds)

Also,
I noticed with interest the fuel consumption figures on the Range Rover/Sahara comparo, 35l per 100km for a Turbo diesel is shocking.
Add to that prices being chucked around on other forums of $6000+ for a fuel pump and $1500 each for injectors and certain models that seem to love doin turbos and air flow meters ect, I think Il stick to payin through the nose for petrol.
I think a petrol auto 100series with supercharger and gas is comeing up.
round town I would get a consistant 14-16 lt per 100km, but I do drive round my country town a little different to most ;D
If you babied it 12 lt per 100km hwy speed was very achievable, and in the sand dunes of Portland or Robe etc, where you could use it all, up to 26lt per 100km, which still is not bad compared to a standard 4.5 in sand.
I believe APS [Safari] are the makers, who have a web page, and some mag road tests on the site to read, butif you drive one, I bet you will buy one.... ;D

Thanks Darren,
food for thought.
Thanks Darren,
food for thought.
If you want to be sure, to be sure, you can always hire one for a day or two, or ask to have one for a w/e, and really get a feel for the makers standard car.
The TD 100 takes some beating IMO, with a dtronic, and a lift can fit 315's, or 285's, and a turbo V8 100, with that 5 sp auto is a real nice car to drive, especially if you turbo intercooled a V8, which APS do a kit for as well.

Doesn't LPG need a spark to explode?

Yes it does - the difference with diesel is that you run both concurrently....generally only 5%-15% LPG....by the time you get to 30% I believe the engine is close to expiry ;)

That would have to improve the power a bit as well you would think. :o

The quote form the June issue is " it's like a 2nd turbo"......
yup seems like it adds a bit of stick....

I am looking forward to reading about this.
I have used LPG in my old commondoor & was a big fan then.
If the conversion cost is not too high, I think i may have a look for the cruiser. ;D ;D ;D ;D
NOS injection onto the turbo wheel can help with low down boost too... keeping it spooled all the time ;D

Darren,
You were just teasen me :o
Safari dont sell turbos for petrols anymore ???
Looks like its back to the supercharger route :)
could try walking in the door and asking "howmuchforcash?" ;)
superchargers = lots of heat in combustion, and I wasnt overly impressed with what I drove.
TRD do have more than one pulley option too if using the trd unit, for lower or higher total boost.
if you go to http://www.lcool.org/ and search emails if you are a member there are several supercharged 4.5's on the 80 US list.

i have seen bbq gas (propane) hooked up to a 60 series just straight to the manifold with hose running to front seat passenger with the flow being controlled by the valve on the bottle, it gave great inprovements up to a point then gave horrible piston rattle (poor old 2H with 400k). But talking to a guy who drives for a local logging company, i was told on a cummins turbo diesel it (lpg setup with two 90 lt tanks) was good for one to two gears on hills with the system being on there for three years with out any problems. seems pretty good to me.
