Stockton Cleanup day 22 October 2006

Trying to organise a group for the Stockton Beach cleanup day. If your interested put your name down here.

The theme of the event is “See Red Over Rubbish". Participates are encouraged to wear red shirts. Anyone who turns up in a red shirt, registers on the day and puts in some time to clean up the dunes will receive a special gift and will be fed – for free. (not by me, apparently by the council)


Date: 22 October 2006

Time: We can register for the cleanup from 9:00am so I say we meet at Lavis Lane at say 8:30am.

:o :owe did stockton beach in May 2005 on a 4 week holiday, drove from one end to the other and could not believe the amount of rubbish on the beach.. would like to come, but bit of a drive from Tassie!!!!!!!! ;D ;D

Based on what I've seen though some of you guy's are keen to go. Does someone what to take over organising this trip?

I'm happy to organise it, I think just follow the same meet ups and all that we used on the weekend... Bar the nav run, but use Saturday as a recon day so we know where we're picking up rubbish from on the Sunday...

Personally, I was disguisted with the amount of rubbish there on the weekend, I don't recall it being that bad before....

Looks like I may be able to come for half of Saturday and most of Sunday. I've got something on in the morning at Morriset but should be able to get away around lunch time.

I've got an off road trailer with 4x4 tyres so I'll bring that to put rubbish in.

Sounds like a great idea. Like the others, will make an effort to be there. Sometimes work rearranges that schedule though. May have to go to India that week (That’s not as much fun as it sounds)

Rabs will be there on Sat...we could meet approx 09:00 at Lavis Metro or better still as it would be quieter is Birubi...i found a good campsite for maybe 8 or so vehicles up Birubi..any takers for Fri nite as i could find it in dark no worries with the ole GPS...i'll bring the genny for lights etc

Hey Guys, Chester i have sent you my mobile No if you need it.....so far staying Sat nite is Simon,Feral,Me,Brad (rabs jnr) and chester, who else camping overnite...ill ring council tomorrow and see how they are picking up rubbish...1 year we left them lined up along the beach and vehicles drove along and picked them up...ill let you all know....still meeting at Lavis Metro Sat morning 09:00...camping approx 4 - 6 k's from Birubi entrance...we can register and start cleanup and get free feed at 13:00 from there also or are we meeting Sun Morning at Lavis... i think we all should meet at Birubi entrance Sun morning for cleanup day as Lavis will be an absolute Sh$tfight

My thinking for the weekend was this:

Meet at Lavis Lane servo 9:00am Saturday morning. Go find a camp spot drop off fire wood etc then head off for a bit of a drive. When doing this we can try and locate where all the rubbish is.

Then, most importantly we can head back to camp for a few drinks. I'm thinking of doing a little fishing as well.

If anyone is coming up Sunday just for the clean up we can meet them at the Lavis Lane servo (as it is easy to find) then head off to register for the clean up. We can head up to the Birubi entrance if needed but I think most of the rubbish will be close to the Lavis entrance due to the number of people that use it.

So we know who is coming can everyone just state what day/s they are coming and if they are camping/attending clean up. First on the list is me.

Don't forget your Red Shirt. Apparently you get something from the council if you turn up in a red shirt.

By the way if anyone is coming from the south and doesn't know where to go I can meet you at the twin servo's on the F3 so you don't get lost.

Hey Guys, im camping Sat Nite..ill go up and register at Birubi Sun Morning....ye Stew i too wanna have a few drinkies Sat arvo and get some fishin in, the beach opposite the campsite would be as good as any spot...sounds good....i wouldn't even try getting in Lavis Sun morning from the beach as there will be bloody stacks of cars coming on the beach....So everyone needs to let us know who is meeting where and when..we can easily meet on the beach somewhere Sun morn...if there is any kiddies or youngings coming let me know and ill try and rustle up some Movies to let em watch on Sat nite on the lappy
