Give us a when & where for a meet up, and if I'm in town, I'll be there!!

Mind you, everyone is welcome at Summit Trax for our First Anniversary AGM on Thursday the 24th of September @ the Anembo Sports & Rec Centre at 7:30 pm! Just take the SE Freeway to Mount Barker, head off the exit and Turn Left, about 200 or so metres down the road take the 1st driveway on the right (there's an opening in the median strip for it) and head on in to the clubrooms!! Be pleased to see you all there!

Ps: the bar opens about 8:30ish

Mopar sticker on a jeep? wtf?
Chrysler may own jeep but most of the jeep stuff of that era is still mostly AMC based. Would you put a mopar sticker on a sigma too?
Not meaning to be a prick or anything, i'm just a bit pedantic and dislike stickers :P

Micke, failing you organising anything earlier, it looks like being the next Summit Trax meeting on 28 Sept. Your 'cruiser going to be mobile by then? I DO have a pretty well kept Patrol that might ease your worries a little!! It's only ever been treated most gently, and the quiet, elderly, gentleman who is its' previous driver wouldn't hurt anything ever!! ;) Trust me, and buy my car!! :D

im on my P's its just parking costs too much in town.

i found out were the quarry at reynella is but aparently u need 2 people to go incase u get stuck which will happen.

i might go out next w/e when my lift is done.

ohh that makes sense now. Just ive only seen a girl drivin that car.

Yeah parking does, get this. I work for adelaide city council, and i was parked at work one where we always park plus ive got a parking permit. Yet i got given a $50 ticket by an inspector who workls for the council aswell ::) booking their own employees, see theyve got their priorities right!

you need two people anywhere you incase you get stuck... plenty of ways to recover yourself besides a winch. but yes always best to go with 2 people as i found out last weekend...

Hhahabummer about the ticket.. well i lisfted the jeep 1" lol.. well it was 4 but without other parts Eg: brake line and Transfer case lowering bolts i couldnt leave it at 4" so im happy with 2" over stock..

hopefully next w/e ill hit the quarry and see how i go.. need to put my foot to the floor off the road for once.. on the road i speed all the time.

The quarry isn't a good place to put your foot to the floor unless you're keen to end up in the creek, on your roof or with a moto rider under your wheels. Similar goes for just about every 4wd track.
If you're so keen on speed, maybe you should be looking at some form of racing rather than recreational four wheel driving, they are two very different things.

Had a look at this spot on Saturday. You cant get past the boulders at either end unless you go over trees or have a zook, or rock sliders.
Whoever put the rocks there must have done some homework. I wouldn't fit my Rodeo through without gouging the sills.
Gotta make me some sliders ;D

Pretty much my point. Those XJ cherokees were an AMC job, chrysler didn't have anything to do with it till they bought out AMC in the late 80s. So, the body isn't of chrysler design, and if it's a 4.0 6 cyl petrol then that isn't chrysler either. So it's really not much more of a mopar than a chrysler-badged sigma or lancer as far as i'm concerned.
I'll stop hijacking this thread with my off-topic pedantic crap dribbling now ;D

gee, i think i prettymuch stated that there was rocks beyond the sings many times but no one seemed to pay any attention. if no one's taken the challenge by the time my 40's running again, i'll give it a go :D

and aussiejeeper, it's one thing to plod through the tracks down the quarry, the authorities might continue to turn a blind eye to it, but if the resi's start complaining that there are donuts etc going on down there, i think they'll really close it off good and proper.

I wanna see that!
A SWB with enough lift (6"+) should be able to go straight over the boulders anyway.
If you went over the r/h side of the boulder between it and the stobie = goodbye roof.
The road through is easy as when dry too.

Yeah I know I've seen your crud covered beast at slingers shop. Wonder where the crud came from? ;D

I thought you were lifting it or was that some other mod?

Anyway, so how'd ya know I made it through amery ??? ;D

it was a shorty back when you saw it, it's 5 inches longer now ;D i'll never lift it, lift just makes it easier to tip, and doesn't help clear tires.

the mods... well short story is redone suspension for better flex, and the 5 inches of wheelbase, power steering, clutch, stronger gearbox, front locker, wider diffs, and some cutting to fit the 36's :D

dunno if it will. although i know of a 3b (4 cyl diesel non turbo) that turns 36 centerpedes with the same gearing. mine loves 33's and i know of dudes that run 35's no issues on the poor lil 2f.. downhill will be the biggest enemy. and if all else fails, a mate in melbourne just made a turbo adaptor to fit a t3 to it ;)

what engine mods have you got to make it run too hot?

AussieJeeper
20-09-2006, 11:09 AM
no MODS its just another "Jeep Thing" its because the egine bay was designed for a smaller engine but they crammed a inline 6 into it and itsvery cramped. it runs at 100 which is its optimum temp but if i go slow enough for long enough it gets to 110 b4 the thermo cuts in all the time bringing it back to 95.

AussieJeeper

bad_religion_au
21-09-2006, 03:03 AM
engine bay was too small? jeep has run that 6 for donkeys years, and knowing the american obsession with cubic inches... well i think they just designed it poorly.

call em boring, but i love the way my tojo has never hit the high side of the guage (and yes it works ;))

hi all, just wondering if anyone has gone for a drive any where?
Went for a drive up to the rocky area (which i posted the pics of) about 3 weeks ago. The result was i came down hard onto the sump which distorted it a bit and ended up seizing the engine just outside of Elizabeth. No obvious signs of a leak when i hit it tho....
Also took the cherokee down to coles crossing, has someone graded it?? 'cause with a standard vehicle and H/T's my G'friend did it easily and she doesn't even have her L's.
Anyway's just waiting on a motor from Melbourne to put in the suzi.

very nice, this is from that quarry you spoke of? youu got any more pics? we should organise a trip up there if the terrains like that!

naf-naf
13-11-2006, 03:43 PM
Slowlux sounds good, for a trip.
First question.... do you care if your rig gets scratched up?? Nothing to serious, but the first obstacle is a 2-3 foot high ledge with REALLY soft sand and loose pebbles (the suzuki sunk about 6 inches and lost all traction just driving up to it) so i had to go around and there are lots of saplings/small trees to drive around on the other side and as such heaps of scratches. Just a thought.

Also, That was the area where i had distorted the sump and caused the engine damage, diffs and chassis will get banged up (not if it has a big lift tho).

In that immediate are there are lots of other rocky bits about half the size of the one in the pic's. 80-90 metres up from there there is about a 30 metre hill climb thing thats made up of 1-3 foot high ledges.

And up from there is about a 40 metre section of 2-3 foot high rocks.

That is about 2-2 1/2 klms up that area (I've seen it on google earth and goes on for over 40 klms) with lots of side areas.

Problem with organiseing a trip with me is that my first weekend day off now is Saturday the 2nd December but then after that i have the whole weekend off for the next 2 weeks (9-10 and 16-17) as most of my days off are through the week.

No more real good pics or vid's.

Another thing I'm pretty sure it's not private property.
Done alot of searches on SA gov. and council sites and it seems to be government general use land for the majority of the length of the creek bed. There are fences but about 50 metres from the top of the banks running parallel.

sounds pretty cool, not to keen on dents and damage, but dont mind the odd scracth. The paint on the GQ is pretty average in some spots as it is

If some more people are keen i might head up on the 9-10 or the weekend after if im not busy, start a fresh thread. And put that cool pic of the zuk in the first paragraph to lure people in!

Cool. I'll give it a go and see what people think.
