Anybody been up Billy Goat Bluff Track lately?

Recall its a steep climb if you start from the Wonnagatta Valley with some steps towards the top, loose rocky surface and hard to pass oncoming traffic along the shelf, but not "hardcore" as such, probably a medium grade track, or have I got dose of early onset dementia? (not at home so I can't look up my trusty journal or maps).

Interested in doing the track this weekend with a mate, but he has just returned to the world of 4b's after a ten year break. This guy has thing about doing this track - sees the Valley and Billy Goat Bluff Track as a rite of passage or something 8).

Both 4b's are well set up.

easily drivable in a standard vehicle, Vic Widmans company took a group of 6-7 newbies up there 2 weeks ago, with people in standard vehicles, with no experience.

I wa sup there to see Mr fire ranger at xmas, with the trip I ran.

We went up back in the start of the year with standard 60 series and my modified 80. Was a hard climb very loose, big rocks but drivable. The guy I was with drives the dozers that build the tracks and they have since had a rock crusher and grader down it to tidy it up. ;D

Thanks guys - took him up no problems. Gee we live in beautiful country, almost forgot how good the High Country was :)

But those fires look they have knocked those little trees (the type that grow along the Dargo High Plains Road) for a six. Just drove to Canberra via Hotham and Kozi Nat Park and them trees look dead as fence posts :(
