View Full Version : Our Desert Trip
The handbrake and I are heading off on our big trip at Easter: 5 weeks in the SA deserts. Anyone interested in joining us on the Bore track and the Simpson?
Bore track will probably be 20th April give or take a day or two.
Simpson West to East will probably be somewhere around 3 to 9 May.
We are presently one vehicle, two persons, 100 L water, 200 Litres Fuel max, GPS, UHF, HF. I plan to do some writing and photography for magazines particularly Coongie Lakes so we will be taking our time.

Sounds like a good one Rangie and it's a trip I'd love to do but I think I'll be sitting on a tractor then, providing it rains of course.
I am running a large group through the simpson on a double crossing during July, so feel free to report back what the floods seem to have done in the region if you get a chance please ;)

Was talking to a mate last night who is doing the Simpson in the opposite direction to you in the first week of July. He is talking about taking a trailer but I'd read on LCOOL that Cunyu Station aren't allowing trailers through. Do you know if this is true and if so is this the only station not allowing trailers or do you know of any other restrictions?
Cheers

Cunya station on the wiluna end of the Canning is not allowing anyone with trailers through the station track onto the canning.
I think this is the start of things to come, as there are noises being made in a lot of places re towing.

Well the tractor at least is outdoors.

Thanks for that. I'd naturally assumed that this was in Simpson territory when I read the post. Shows how much I know about that part of the world. :-[

The joys of having a big 6' map of Aus laminated, framed, and hung on the wall ;)
I write on the glass with a permenent texta everywhere we go, as a record, on the big map.

Rangie,
Good luck to you as well. We are only doing 3 weeks, 5 weeks would be much more enjoyable.
