I just had a look at ebay and saw some adds for the following

NEW 12 VOLT 6000LB (2700KG) ELECTRIC WINCH
Remote switch and power cord 10ft long
Cable length 30ft (9m), 3 3/4" Hook
6000Lb Rolling Capacity.
5000Lb Marine Capacity.
2000Lb Pulling Capacity.
12 Volts.
NET WEIGHT 8.5KGS SIZE (240 X 190 X 255 MM).

PORTABLE AND CONVENIENT WITH BUILT IN CARRY HANDLE AND QUICK ATTACH MOUNTING PLATE FOR PULLING BOATS, BOGGED 4WDS,AND OTHER HEAVY ITEMS

Will they pull a troopy out of a bog??? For $200 or so its 3000lb less then a big Warn winch and if it does the job???

Bog, as in mud, probably not.
6000 lbs is less than 3 tonnes. Troopy is nearly that on road, then you need to add a little suction from the mud.
Personally, I would use nothing less than 9000 lbs for a troopy, & even then it may be too small.

2 tonne or so is its all up weight. The winch isn't going to lift the Troopy but pull it forward out of the bog hole or up a less than 90 degree slope so the total weight pulled is less.

The question is I guess is what Pulling capacity you need not lifting capacity. ???

Like I mentioned before re how heavy a troopy is vs strength of winch.
When you are pulling a vehicle out of a bog, the vehicle will still need to come up out of the hole it is in, also there will be some resistance from the mud providing some suction.

My opinion, I would not buy it for that job. A few years ago I probably would have (alot less experience & light vehicle - Sierra).

Simple answer is a clear NO I'm sorry Bill.
Sure it might help you out of some situations - but there is NO WAY I would relie upon one of those little toys even with my TJ and it's MUCH lighter than your troopy.

i own a 47 troopy which weighs in at around 3.7 tonn when it loaded up with all the stuff its arounf 4.3-5 tonn a warn winch is what i found to be the best a load rating of 6 tonn and it has been use full the other winch i have invested in is a portable type whic can be placed in to any haymond rece hitch and be used to pull forward sideways or bacl the only thing i suggest is that you change the pin they use for the tow hitch to stainless steal the original was to be found to not cope with the load

Possibly be OK if you use a snatch block (pulley). Very slow. We have a 6000lb winch on our Freelander which weighs 1600Kg and had to use the snatch block quite often when we were winching. The suction from mud is a lot more than you realize.

If 6000lb were Ok for a Troopy, guess which vehicle it would be on now, yes our Troopy.
