Still looking for Volvo drop axle to suit my 100. I know there are merc 404 around but they are just too big.
Had tried few sources around, including outerlimit, with no luck. :'(
Anybody can help? Hopefully before april, so I dont have to fit the air lockers in mine for my april trip. :( :(
Drop axles for a 100???
Why?
I note drop axles havent been in the winners cirlce of any of the big US events, and the gearing of them is ussually way to slow for road use [5.8 - 7.9-1 ratio]
Is yours a 100 [ifs] or a 105 [ridgid front axle]?

its rigid axle...is it 105 they called it?
why?
they only give certificate for my 35" on factory axle. but not if I fit the 38.9 claws coz they reckon the axle not strong enough. Although some people lucky enough not to get pull over and ask for the certificate, but i like to drive my claws around on road without worrying about that.
they said if I can find an axle which strong enough for it I have big chance to get it. I could fit dana 50, but at the moment I think I like the volvo.
also it has a built in locker, that is abonus
38.9 + drop axle/mpg = clearance
clearance + marks adaptor 205% reduction = awesome ;)
but I think I have to be happy with my factory one :-\
If the axle is fully floating, it shouldnt matter about the strength as the wheel cant come off if the axle breaks.
Siggi's 80 with 44" tyres was road reg in nsw afew years ago.

Apparently the front of a cruiser is a rear hilux diff which is way not strong enough for a set of 39 inch claws on a 100.
-especially if you snatch in reverse
(By the way what suspension you got underthat to fit'em;D)
The front diff in Siggi's was same, and I ran 300hp and 400 ft lbs @ the wheels in my 80, with 36" swampers and f & r difflocks, did winch challenges etc, and the front diff held up fine.
Here is a video of my 80 in action, lookout track Narbathong.

I was never stupid enough to try a snatch backward though ::)
