Morning All

Well, yesterday I had an absolutely ripping day at 'Cruiser Park, the only problem is that the consequences of my activities are a wheel alignment that is out (steering wheel is sitting about 120 deg. around than it was in the beginning of the day) and the power steering is leaking, ie. all fluid has leaked out.

It is leaking from the steering box at the first join after the column (flexible coupling) joins the steering gear (as named in Gregory's Manual). Overnight it has dropped, what appears to be, the full compliment of power steering fluid.

My questions are, how much will this cost to fix/replace, is it just a reco/exchange steering box, can I drive it as it is without damaging other bits (ie. do I have to take off the power steering belt), could this have this have happened at the same time as knocking out my wheel alignment.

All help greatfully appreciated, as I need to drive the car to work tomorrow.

Vehicle is 1992 Ford Maverick, oh alright its a GQ Patrol!

Regards

Dave Mc.

sounds like you had a great time, you should check your steering arms for bends and the pitman arm for cracks, you can run the system with out the belt on so the pump doesn't run dry, with a bit of mechanical knowledge you can put a kit thru the box (alot cheaper than a changeover) all the best for your repairs.
