How to post a picture to this forum.
What I do to post a pic, is as follows (pretty simple stuff once you get used to it)
Before you start, you will need to get your picture(s) hosted on a website somewhere & be able to view those files through the internet.
1, Find the URL of a picture.
What I do to get this is find a pic, right click on it & select properties. The full url path will be shown.
Click & drag over this (including the http part) & once the full path is hightlighted, right click again & select copy.
2, Put the link into your message
You can do this by right clicking on the text part of the screen (where you can type) & select paste.
3, Now you want to make the url into a picture.
Click & drag over the full url path you have just pasted in, highlighting it.
Then click on the http://www.4wdmonthly.com.au/forum/YaBBImages/img.gif button.
To test it, click on Preview.
If posting a picture to a site & then linking it to here, please try to keep the file size below 100kb.

Hopefully this will be of some help.
We have a free online picture gallery.
http://www.4x4world.com.au/forum/
You can post pictures there, so that you can add them to your posts and display them here on the 4x4monthly website.
So that you can view pictures on another forum such as this, your pictures will need to be posted in one of the public galleries (not a ‘Users Personal Galleries’):
User Introductions & Vehicles
General Four Wheel Driving
Vehicle Modifications
I Got Stuck
Extreme 4x4's Vehicles
Extreme Four Wheel Driving
Trips and Camping Destinations
Clubs and Events
Here are the instructions how:
1. Login and Post your pictures, in either a public gallery, or your own private gallery.
2. Click on the thumbnail of one of your pictures to enlarge it.
http://www.4x4world.com.au/images/forum_link_1.jpg
3. This will open a window to the full sized image.
http://www.4x4world.com.au/images/forum_link_2.jpg
Copy the link of the full sized image into your post and add the tags by bt’s instructions above or by adding “” around the link:
[img]http://www.4x4world.com.au/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=14[ /img]
That’s it!!
If there are any problems, please let us know.

The answer all depends on the program in which you are using to view the picture.
In most cases, you can choose from the top of the page, Image, then on the drop down list you should see re-size re-sample.
By clicking on this pane, it will allow you to change the size and properties of the picture to suit your requirements.
If you still have trouble, email me the pic, ddsltd@zip.com.au and I will re-size it and send it back to you.
4WD Links Hosting & Posting Pics FAQ
4WD Links will host your photos and videos for free in the Members Photo Gallery (http://www.4wdlinks.com.au/gallery/). All photos may be hotlinked for use in forums, are automatically resized to suit web use, and may be uploaded 10 at a time.
1. Visit this page for more details and information on how to set-up your album -> http://www.4wdlinks.com.au/photos/
- Instructions of how to upload photos etc are provided by email.
How to Post your pics to forums..
1. In your album, click on the thumbnail of the picture you want to use. This will load the individual photo page.
2. Right click on the photo itself, and select "properties".
3. In the photo properties, highlight the "Address(URL)" details (e.g. http://www.4wdlinks.com.au/albums/shute/adx.jpg) and copy that URL by using CTRL+C.
4. In your message on this forum, select the Image button. This will then display (IMG)(/IMG) in square brackets.
5. Paste the URL between the (IMG)(/IMG) tags using CTRL-V. It should then look like this (IMG)http://www.4wdlinks.com.au/albums/shute/adx.jpg(/IMG) with square brackets.
6. Select the "Preview" button below to ensure everything has worked.
7. Press "Post" when you are happy.

Just a quick qestion.baby_troupe.
MY friend has registerd for this forum,However he still can not log on.
He knows his user name, but forgot his password.
When he uses the forgot password help,he recieves no email to give him a new password.
He cannot reregister as the computer will not give second user on that ip address.
Basically he wants to join us but needs help.
Also not real computer illiterate.
your help would be great. ;D

It's not the IP adress which is keeping him from re-applying, it's the email address.
He is trying to use the same email address for both accounts which can't be done.
There is nothing he can do if the password has been forgotten, though if he can have a new (Additional) email address given to him by his ISP he can re-apply with the new email address without any problems.
Though we won't be able to use his original name because he has used it before.

Can you post pics on the site without having them hosted on an internet site? Also how do you get your pics hosted on the internet?
Wilesy
11-10-2004, 01:45 PM
No,
You must have an internet host site. All ISP's give you a certain amount of space to host pic's etc, you just have to ask your service provider on how to do this.
Alternatively, you can join something like this 4WD Links (http://www.4wdlinks.com.au/register.php) and you can post pic's there, and link them to here.

Basicly the same way as you post pics, but you need the pic to be either a moving .gif image or a flash object (.swf)
To get the image onto the bottom of your posts, paste the url into the signature section of your profile

I have put this together to help people with posting pictures.
I have created this using Photo Bucket but, you may use a photo hosting browser of your choice.
just follow the steps.
1. You will have to resise your pictures using a software pack age like Irfanview (http://www.download.com/IrfanView/3000-2192-10021962.html?part=dl), resise them to 640 x 427 pixels (good size for the mesage board).
Then open two separate internet explorer windows (one with your photo server and the other with your post reply mesage),On your photo host's posting page select the photo from your computer that you want to post, using the browse button.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c321/TOY80ST/Four%20Wheel%20Drive/How%20to%20post%20pictures/Project1.jpg
2. Select the picture you want to host from your file, it comes up automatically then browse to the location where your photo's are located (I created a separate file in my pictures just for posting) and click submit, this will upload the image to your host and create the image onto the host's server.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c321/TOY80ST/Four%20Wheel%20Drive/How%20to%20post%20pictures/Project2.jpg
3. Once your photo's have been up loaded (single)left click in the IMG box (shown below), this will high light the text (blue)
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c321/TOY80ST/Four%20Wheel%20Drive/How%20to%20post%20pictures/Project3.jpg
4. When the text is high lighted, right click and select copy. this will copy the information you need to paste into the forum.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c321/TOY80ST/Four%20Wheel%20Drive/How%20to%20post%20pictures/Project4.jpg
5. Return to the forum and right click in the mesage box, this is where it pays to have both your forum and your host opened in a separate window, one internet explorer for 4WD monthly and the other for your photo hosting server. (then you can just click on the task bar to toggle back and forth)
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c321/TOY80ST/Four%20Wheel%20Drive/How%20to%20post%20pictures/Project5.jpg
6. You should have something that reads like this.(or similar it will depend on the name of your photo and your hosting server)
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c321/TOY80ST/Four%20Wheel%20Drive/How%20to%20post%20pictures/Project6.jpg
Good luck I hope this has helped.

I can't find this question anywhere so I need to ask the dumb question;
Like many, I too cannot view all the pic posts that appear on this forum (bogged pic's etc) and at times all I get is a bloody rectangular box with a small red x at the top with a comment below refering to the pic but no pic......
very frustrating !!!!!!!!!
What gives guys ??
Can I fix this somehow ???
Cheers...... Humpa

A red cross will come up if the picture is no longer hosted in the same location or the host site is down.
Theres nothing you can do
Less likely if it has been posted here, but, some host sites dont allow hotlinks. Try right clicking on the image, look at the properties and post the url address into the address bar of your browser.
