Have pic's but not able to post up yet (read: crap pic posting skills)
My Rodeo:
R9 series 1998 3.2 lt. V6 Part time 4wd (manual hubs ;D)
Dual cab
2" Torsion bar crank (stock bars and stuffed) and upper ball joint flip
2" Tough Dog rear springs & 30mm ext. shackles
45mm Tough Dog foam cell shocks
ARB long range petrol tank
Gastech LPG system
Warn 8000 winch
ARB winch bar
33" BFG muddies with Cheviot Hurricane Alloys
Front guards cut and shut
Daikin/Exedy Safari Tuff clutch
Car Consoles roof console
GME 4400 UHF
Rhino spray on liner in tub
Flexiglass canopy
So what's it like offroad?
Surprisingly capable for reasonably low slung IFS vehicle but a bit of suspension lift and 33" muddies helps a lot.
The tough 12 bolt rear LSD works really well when asked to and the little V6 responds very well to the loud pedal once it hits it powerband.
It went well the the Naracoorte/Apex 4x4 Challenge in March, got a midfield placing in the end but I could have pushed it a lot harder, but being my 1st comp. I wasn't sure how hard I could push it and it could do with new t/bars, more wheel travel and a couple more inches of suspension lift.
Overall I reckon they're a pretty tough ute.
Will have to get some action pics posted up

I want to see the pictures - how do you get 33s under it wth no body lift?

I want to see the pictures - how do you get 33s under it wth no body lift?
All I did was basically crank the t/bars up as far as they would go without reindexing them, flipped the upper ball joints (which gives a bit more down travel, not lift) and I had to cut and shut the rear of the front guards arch for tyre clearance there. Also had to cut a rearward pointing metal tab on the ARB bar in the wheel arch to prevent tyre contact on compression when turning.
The tyres just make contact with the uppermost lip of the wheel arches under full compression so yeah, a 1" body lift would fix that but I dont like body lifts so I am looking at dropping the whole front (diff and suspension) about 2" down from the chassis and doing a rear spring over with flatter springs to match the front lift. That would give it a total of about 4" suspension lift from standard and plenty of tyre clearance without a body lift. Also looking at making some upper control arms to allow more front wheel travel.
If you pm me your email I'll send the pics of the 33's and what I had to do.

Yep, a coil sprung SWB. Air locker rear, got some 80s springs to go in, already lifted 1-2", came with 34" JT's on it. The 350 and auto I sourced out of an old Jag and isn't in it yet, got some other stuff to sort out first. Knew it would be a while before I start on it but snapped it up for a decent price at the time.
Cant wait me-self ;D

hey mate is the upper ball joint flip exactly as it sounds?
doesnt that put the taper on the ball joint the wrong way thru the spindle?

This is the ball joint flip.
It isn't upending the balljoint, just moving it from above to below the control arm.
