What tracks are there around hornsby/Berrowra? The only one I know of is the one off beaumont rd. where you have to drive off the side of a factory car park to get in.

And, who else lives around this area? I'd like to meet up with some other locals.

yeah it's a fire trail. there's actually 3 of them there. one go's off the road and finishes in someone's paddock. another go's from the end of a street in berrowra to a factory car park but the guy who lives in the house next to the entry calls the cops so you gotta go thru the factory off beaumont rd. and the last one you need to drive around a gate but it's just a fire trail. If you have time on saturday after jobsons I can show you. it's a good place to fart around and get the suspension flexing ;D

ed. I have taken a jimny down there so you would be right. That isuzu in my avatar comes from a different district. she lives in Warringah-Pittwater. and everything there is locked up.

we'll have to organise a fart around day on some of the tracks up this end of the north shore.

junior80

Chester - it's up to you, it's pretty much a fire trail with couple of more challenging bits off to the side.

Crunch - I think it's newline rd. i've nver actually been in there, only seen it on the way past.

ok there seems to be some good interest in a local wheeling day in the hornsby ish area. we can go and do the short trails around Mt. Kuringgai and I'll also see what I can do about getting a trail opened up for us out near west head from the terry hillls or duffy's forest area. that's pretty close aswell. we'll have to look into that trail in galston that crunch was talking about.

there's a few in arcadia such as winchbreak and calabash fire trail. i think winchbreak's been graded as far as the hill, but still worth a look if you;re in the area. and there's a few more in the area such as peebles road i think that head into marra marra NP.

i went up to the wattagans today, great fun even if i was on my own. found a bit of mud and a few steep climbs and a fow too steep climbs aswell.

cheers boys

Calabash has been graded dead flat, so dont waste your time going there.

I know the tracks off beaumont rd, they are ok for about 10mins of play.

The track in galston is pretty much the same chop, not bad if your a local. The good stuff in there got flattened about 2 years ago.

They are the sort of tracks that if your a local its ok, otherwise probably not worth the trip. But you have to drive it once I suppose.

junior80
29-08-2006, 06:57 PM
name a date. we need to pic one when everyone is around. I would really like to get me sidewinder down the beaumont road track to that paddock at the end. the short muddy track would be perfect for it.

Doesn't worry me aslong as junior80 meets me @ Maccas.
I have no idea where beaumont is? I'm coming from Baulkham Hills.

Guys this is hardly a track, and the bottom end is private property also it's not exactly challenging. The guy who owns it has parked people in and called the police before. Just be warned if he's around you may have trouble getting back out especially if you go right to the bottom and into his paddock.

Cheers

steve is right guys. It's a glorified driveway. we should do a wattigans trip instead. unfortunatly I'm not available this sunday and wont have enough time on sat because of work.

one other small detail, I have never been to the watti's so I don't know any tracks up there. I would like to kepp the degree of difficulty to a minimum as I don't have any back or side protection on the 80 and don't want to damage her. call me a pussy if you like i don't care.

what do you think?

I'm getting itchy for a Watto's run.

We've had a stock Prado through there with a first time (female) driver. And we did some pretty decent tracks. You can get an 80 through there with minimal (or no) damage ;D

I am pretty well booked up for a while though, so i'll let you know if I find a free weekend...

I used to live up that way (but not anymore).

There used to be a great lot of tracks off porters road off the back of galston gourge but they have all been gated up in the past year or so.

the best one around the area as far as i know (and i was just out there a few weekends ago so i know there are no gates) are out the back of arcadia (near fagan park on the other side of the gorge).

if you look up northholm grammer school in archadia and then follow the road that goes straight past the front entrance, drive down the road directly ahead of you and you'll end up at a few endtrances to marra marra national park that are still accessible for 4WD's.

There is a great little test patch off one of the trails that lets you really test the limits, and some great lunch spots too.

enjoy
