Thanks guys, next mod is to fit GoJeeps big disk kit (twin pot calipers, bigger disks etc) up front, hopefully next weekend, and make a rearbar/carrier to match the front.
I also need to make some rock rails and plan to make an Army style trailer to match the XJ.

I've had it for 4 years now so price is pretty irrelevant but you can pick up the post 97 for around $11000-$18000 now and the pre 97 go down as low as about $6000 or $7000
Its a petrol 4.0lt with auto. They do come in a diesel with manual but the diesel can be unreliable, the consensus is if you get a good one then you'll be Ok if you get a bad one then expect a very empty wallet.

got any pics / details on your transfer case bash plate / hi clearance cross member?
I took my stock beaten up cross member and cut the bottom off and replaced it with 8mm plate, this gave it more clearance and toughened it up.

For the skid plate I used some more 8mm plate and attached it too some mounts I'd built into the crossmemember.
It looks like it hangs down a lot but it is as close as it could get to the t-case and is higher than stock.
It has bolts going through the side plate and chassis rail and has a backing plate on the otherside as well, I hadn't drilled the holes for them in this pic.

Both are solid and have done a good job so far, the crossmember doesn't hit so often and the skid helps to triangulate the mount of the crossmember so if it does hit it sends the force through more points.

Now it has upgraded front brakes (thanks to Gojeep for his work in finding what fits etc and puting together a kit) :) You can see the old caliper in the bottom corner of the first pic.

And the mess in the garage while I was doing them.
