Fourbys gave me a good price on the rims cant remember exact price but was cheaper than the other places. Bought the tyres second hand off Blu125 for 800.

And my bullbar aerial got caught on the garage door and snapped :-[ , so no not retractable ;D

The rims are Mickey Thompson Classic IIs, Fourbys is on Ipswich Rd in Mooroka in Brisbane. Yeh I ran my wiring in through the bar Id take a photo but I wont have it back until the engine conversion is finished, hopefully next week. Theres no way Id pay 250 to wire up the lights. Im away for work at the moment but if you want a hand send me a pm and I can organise a weekend to help you wire them up if you like. Only cost a carton or two ;)

I got them from hardcore on Moss St they were 110 from memory. I had smashed one of the standard ones and Toyota wanted more for one than a pair of these so I grabbed them. The fit isnt that great but they look alright from a distance.

Hey mate I am using a R151f its out of a surf and is a lot stronger than the standard w56 that was in mine. Fuel economy is a little harder to work out I havent really been driving for economy. Last tank i checked I was using 18L/100km combined city highway driving. But that was with some highway stupidity and a lot of squirts off the line, the novelty factor hasnt worn off yet. ;D I also havent done that many ks in it yet so I can update after I have if your interested.

With the ratios I started out with 4.3 for 3 days :-X then went 4.5 for a couple of weeks and now I am running 4.8s which is a huge improvement over the others.

Yeh mate you head towards Boonah its about 8ks out of Beaudesert, so yeh very close. Not a bad park the tracks are pretty tight so expect scratches. Good value too when you work out how much time and fuel you save over other parks.

air the tyres down, drive out on 4 flats then air back up, easier then changing tyres or unbolting lights.

Oh and I get 15Lts per 100ks with 33`s and 4.88 diff gears. Thats also sitting on about 115k/hr.

Yeh that would work if I wanted to leave it out. Problem is I like to keep it in there. I have taken the lights off, with the end result being if I was happy with it without them I would leave them off. I do prefer it with them on so once the new wheels are fitted up I will look into ways to remount them so it fits in the garage.

I sold just sold me big-arse bullbar and hope to get a 2" lift soon, and was tossing up whether to 15x8 with 32/11.5x15 or to put a set of new Prado GXL 17x7.5 rims with 285/70x17 BFG MT's (33"x11.5"x17).

There 35s or close enough too. They will need some work to stop the scrubbing but I am not concerned as the sas will be getting done after Chrissy so will sort the problems with a grinder then.:D

If you are going 33s the 6 should have enough power to handle it. I wouldnt go Prado rims I dont think the offset would be enough. However I would recommend saving for the diff ratios as its worth the effort.

So how you mounting the lights?:)

Itll be easier to explain with pics, hopefully I will get time this week to do it.

Thats one of the good things about 17's!! Still got the same sidewall profile as a 33 on a 15" rim, but it all looks deceiving to how big they actually are.

I am looking at doing 4" suspension lift instead of 2" susp and 2" body, simply for the fact that i have airbags. Mine is a 2003 so the wheel arches are probably slightly different.... will probably try out a set of 35's for a bit and if they are unbarable just go 33's.

Measured up the wheel arches in a mates and they are a little bigger but imo still not big enough without some grinder work. If you have airbags then the 4" kit is the way to go. Just make sure you do the ratios. Also decide on tyre size before you do them mine ran better on the highway with 4.5s and 33s than the 4.8s. However 4.8s and 35s seems to work really well.

The claws I had on scrubbed less than the new ones because they actually measured alot smaller than the newys. So check out the actual size of the tyre you are buying also.

Mate, the 4inch lift from Skyjacker/Snakeracing will suit 33s only. To fit 35s, apparently a 2inch body lift is required also. A 6 inch lift total to fit 35s, is it worth it, yea maybe, but good luck getting it registered/insured.

For cars UNDER 1100kg DRY WEIGHT (no fuel, no people, no junk), you can fit a motor 4.5x the dry weight. Zooks are 940 dry, so thats 4230cc (4.2L).

I actually have a surf coil rear in the shed I am no longer going to fit so I will be selling it.

I also have a full bundeera front end in the shed that I got at a great price courtesy of Nemesis. But at this stage I will not be fitting it for a while after the time it has been off the road with the engine conversion I just want to use it. It will also be interesting to see how long the ifs holds up for.

All mods next year will be visual only with a very offroad orientated slant. The plan at this stage is to get out bush and get it dirty.

Hey mate cheers for the comments. I used to do everything in it ask Twisty about the mud through it when the engine was removed:D Unfortunately due to the engine conversion I have only been off road twice in the last 14mths. Motor was pulled out November 05

Its pretty scratched up definately not show car condition like Twistys. The alloy looks great but is really starting to annoy me with all the cleaning also its now to high for most jacks and theres nowhere to use a hilift. Also I cant fit a 35 spare under the tray either. There are a few changes coming in the next few months that wont look as pretty but at least I will be able to use it again.

I got my bodylift from Zordo I dont remember what it cost around 300 I think. IMO it was worth the money no stuffing around founding bolts that are the correct thread and rubbish.

Still not 100% certain yet mate. At this stage a custom tray similiar to this.

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j221/ausyota/100_4572ab.jpg

Colour matched to the car. A set of steps/sliders that tie in with it and a sahara style front bar.

Brook from Custom 4x4 Fabrications will be doing all the work. For those that dont know he is the same guy that did Twistys rear bar and sliders. Knowing Brook I think there will be a few changes made along the way as his work tends to have some unique touches to it. But then thats what custom work is all about.

allot of dealers used to give them away, you could only get duel cabs with style side trays on them so farmers / traidies had them pulled off and had steel drop side trays put on. infact when my old man sold his dealership i took about 5 to the tip.

G'day boof., whats the latest on the luxie, anything new?

Well as Brook said its going under the knofe except it will be a week later now. Mechanic stuffed up again:rolleyes:

Had it back on the dyno today. They were running tyres to get the speedo and ground speed identical so as to get a realistic reading. The last one was on 4.3s and 33s.

They found a few things wrong with the tune which was the main reason for the exercise. The tune was done by guys who work with the SM4 all the time. I dont know torque figures yet as I havent seen the sheet but powerwise it was 152Kw (204Hp) at the wheels. According to the guys there I should be accounting for a 30% loss through the drivetrain. So that would make the engine figures around 218Kw (292Hp). I am pretty happy with that. :D

It will be interesting to see the difference when I add some forced induction in the future:D

Here's a pic of a Hilux like ours I took from the last 4x4 show here in Melbourne in Ocotber last year. The bloke till solid front axle swap with a Bundera diff, and coils all around. Pro Comp in Melbourne did it for him and the Pro Comp stand said that the setup he's running cost him between 15-20grand ! I almost fell off my feet! It's got a 4" lift and he runs 16x8's with 285 Pro-Comp Muddies, Tube front bar, big-arse winch that he had to cut into the grill to fit. The owner did it coz he wants to run it at some comps or something.

Just thought you might be interested in it :) Good luck!

That looks sweet, mine wont be costing 15-20g:eek:
I can see that value in that truck if he drove it in stock as arock though as it has a host of other mods also.

Mine is getting setup mainly for use, but it will still have enough show on it for the odd show and shine.:D

Yep Bundy 3 link at this stage, as far as I know a 5 link cannot be engineered in Qld. I will be doing more research into the X link but at the moment I am almost 100% it cannot be engineered in Qld either:mad:

Mick thanks for the comments however next to that monster of yours itll still pale in comparison:D

Why coils, leafs can be setup nicely and cheeply :D

We'll have to go wheeling once its done epecisaly when I move to spring mountain.

Main reason is I want to be able to tour and tow a camper trailer in it. I cant get the rear leaves to flex and still be able to tow with it. So coils seem like the easiest option.
And if I am going coil rear I might as well use the bundy front in the shed as well.:D
And I look forwardto trying to follow that beast of yours should be fun

What about leafs and airbags in the rear?

Have been told by several places the airbags restrict flex even when deflated so its no better than running stiffer springs?

Cheap well I hope so but I guess I will find out :D

If you look at that truck and account for coils front and rear, canopy, winch, bar, lights, probably got lockers, dual batteries, rims and tyres. I can see how it could get to that sort of value

If all done by Pro Comp, I guess so ? But I reckon Pro Comp probably charged him 15-20 for the conversion, winch/bar, rims & tyres.

She still says she liked it better before:crazy: But at least the reason is a good one. Apparently now it looks too much like a boys car and not as friendly as it did before:confused: . So I reckon that means it looks tough and mean:D She has commented on things like the flare joins and stuff so she has noticed the detail too.

Yeh I can lift it its just awkward. The sliders are around 25-30kgs each and hurt like hell when they slip off the chassis and land on your ankle:cry:

The front bar is around 40-45kgs I will be putting it back on again this arve so I will have pics of the front bar and sliders done and on.

The bottom of the tray is done and Ill hopefully get the top of it done and the tray back on next weekend. Brooksy is bringing a carton around so the extra person and beer will help.

As for the tray itd have to weigh at least 150kgs and its damn heavy and hard to get off on your own. There's no way Id get it back on by myself.
