It's a 95 model 4.5l petty with LPG. The only major mod so far is a 2" front & 3" rear suspension lift by The Ultimate Suspension. accessories are an ARB steel bar, TJM mesh floor rack, IPF driving lights and Kaymar rear wheel carrier.

The 33" BFG muddies will be here very soon to replace the bALLd Terrains on it at the moment, swapping the massive 115L LPG tank for two smaller ones, I'll get the department of the interior to make up a roof console and a body rubber swap if needed to clear the bigger tyres. And I really want drop hubs ;D

I won't bother with what it looked like before the suspension went in. so here it is now.

it looks stupid in this pic because of the small tyres, BUT I have not yet been able to get a back wheel off the ground or get dry bogged. you can see how low the lpg tank is if you look just behind the back wheels.

http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/276/dsc00351forumtf9.jpgthat's me checking to see if the back's scrubbing.

looking good, you wont have any scrubbing issues with 285 75r16 with that lift there only 1 inch bigger then standard if you beleve the tyre charts ;)

Very nice 80. I like that bar on the front. Mine has an alloy bar atm. Trying to decide on black steel bar or colour coded white.

I was thinking I might get it powder coated black to match the wheel arch flares

I have a 115L LPG tank in it which fills to 90L ish, and that will get me somewhere between 300 and 350Kms city driving. I don't know what I get on petrol.

I was thinking of removing the LPG all together and getting two long range petrol tanks. I want to do some long trips in it and most of the places I want to go wont sell gas.

And, that bloody big tank hangs down too far. I need to get two smaller ones.

so yeah, the gas is cheap, but I think the economy is pretty similar :P
and it's Impco

Thanks mate

Its a bit of a predicament.I was going to get gas injection but thats a fair bit more expensive again and no one can tell me if they are happy with theirs.I love the motor but spending a hundred back a day just for a drive is getting to me.Maybe you should look at getting it dyno tuned?

go the direct injection. A long time mate of my dad is a gas mechanic and he reckons its good stuff. I wouldn't mind putting a turbo diesel on gas, when your turbo is on boost it injects in the gas. he says it's like a nitros kick. sortof.

but yeah, he says you get a better burn therefore better economy. when you do it, get two smaller tanks plummed together instead of the massive one they make for the Patrols. and don't get the tanks that sit between the chassis and the sills, it spoils your ramp-over angle.

hope that helps ;)

Yeh i have heard good things about the gas injection.problem is I know of only one place that does it in brisbane and they wernt that interested and said they were booked out for 6 months. They quoted me 3200 too thats just the LPG system no spare wheel carrier etc.So my options are limitied.May have to wait till I pass through sydney and get it done

yeah, some guys my mechanic knows were doing it to a CAT engine a while ago at a uni somewhere, they had a power increase of something like 120%. voids the absolute crap out of the warranty tho ;D

is your lpg tank where the spare wheel was? if so do you have issues with departure angles and getting the tank hung up on rocks.

Thanks,

Col.

;D When are you blokes heading out? I have had one small chance to use the new MTRs in anger, but was checking out River Island and Wombeyan for later refs. so didn't get much time for solid trail work. The tyres held up way better than the STs when they were new though.very wet down that way
jr80- much meaner, good lookin truck, the 80!

nice 80 how did you rip your flare off?

junior80
09-08-2006, 11:22 AM
didn't quite understand what dezmo meant when he said I was on the mudflap. I reversed back because I was going to take a run up at the rock I was trying to climb up, and "CRUNCH"

It was pinched between the tyre and a rock. only hurt the mudflap. bumper and wheel arch flare are fine.

junior80

moral of the story. cut your mud flaps so they don't hang down as much or unscrew them completely.
